I love this idea.

When I was in high school I always stored the bags of horse feed in the trunk of my Trans Am. Always worked pretty well and served two purposes since it was a shared barn with very little space.

I always hated taking my car to our barn (which had our lift). If you don't keep an eye on the car you would get the horses coming up to it licking it and biting at the paint. They did this to get the salt from the caliche road that lead up to your place.

You won't need it. The car is weighted pretty evenly.

I had real winter tires and it was like a tank in the snow.

It was a no go in Minnesota.

Not just traction issues but more it was too low to the ground and kept getting hung up in even the smallest drifts and piles of snow. I have a winter driver and am much more comfortable with that.

I have been driving rear wheel cars in winter snow most of my life (Firebird, GTO and five pre-fifth gen Camaros) without cause for alarm. I will say sticky summer only tires tend to stiffen up in sub 20 degree temps which makes traction worse.

So you whats your experiance/tips for winter driving.

Note I'm from Ontario Canada(Oshawa)

I'm from southern Ontario too. Get a set of winter tires and you'll be good to go. Do a search though, there's a lot of threads on this. Check the Tires section.

I live in San Diego, does anyone know where I can buy a good set of winter tires? I don't wanna spin out while going to the beach. Rumor has it, it might hit 50 degrees come December...

Just be careful. A few times fish-tailing will teach you a lot about handling your car. Should be no problem.

Roddd.. since moving to Phoenix a while ago, I know what you mean. I saw snow from Phoenix about 15 years ago. On a mountain top about 100 miles north of here on a clear day. My snow tires rotted away a decade ago. yeah, it's hot here, but we don't have to shovel the heat.

You will be waisting your money getting Winter Tires for that area. If you do need something then go with cheaper all seasons for the winter. If you do some reasearch and read about the componds of winter tires your winter tires in that area wont last very long becuase of the warm climate. You'll do better with all seasons.

This is as simple as black and white

SUMMER

WINTER

I live in Calgary Alberta and I bought this truck, insured it and registered it for LESS than Steel 20" rims and Good winter tires to fit the profile

You really dont want all the rock chips from the gravel and the chemicals they spray on the road all caked onto your car, most likely in places that will hardly ever get washed

i've been debating winter rims and tires vs. a winter beater truck. i'm running out of time though, just not sure what I want to do. as you know our winters are pretty nasty up here.....
