Wow, on a GFX kit it's completely hidden when not in use - I'm not a fan of how visible it is on an LT when "hidden".

Yeah...I agree. However it's better than drilling holes in my bumper or always making it completely visible..

Truth. By the way, has anyone been pulled over with a hidden plate, but while the police are running your tags, you whip it out? What did the police say in that situation? Are they cool with that, or force you to always display it?

So how is paying no-plate tickets saving you money vs. getting a remote hideaway plate holder one time saving you hundreds in fines down the road?

I see a great return on investment. Luckily, in SC, there aren't any front plate issues to worry about.

I think unless they took a picture of your car without the plate, they'd have a hard time proving it wasn't there before the stop. Because when he/she asked for your papers, and tells you that you didn't have a front plate, you can say, "I most certainly do". Just don't forget to pop it up before he/she looks.

One of the guys on here (also goes to Baylor with me) said he got stopped by the police around here for no plates and he popped it up and told the cop he was crazy.

I just put my plates recently after getting a warning, no drilling required.
Just two long zip ties.

fished the zip ties between the recessed holes on the plate bracket
Mounted on lower grille.

Hide Away Plate and Personal Plate Go hand in hand

I had my personal plates "UCOFCR" made just for this. I am looking forward to actually getting to use mine someday. When I get to walk to the front of my car and say
" U C Officer" there is a front license plate on there. I was very worried when i installed it back in May, if it would withstand 100+mph. It has held up perfectly.

Was going 80 tonight cruising with some of my friends on the entire bracket came off! Searched for it for 20mins couldn't find it, waiting until morning. All the screws backed out, and I used lock tight and the works to prevent this, ugh!

I have the manual version (non-motorized) and was just about to install it. Was really not liking the look of the screws and mounts. This story here has me worried now.

I haven't had a front place since '04.

Been stopped at least 8-10 times since then and only ticketed once.

It is a running risk though.

My son plays lacrosse and has a few games each season in Austin. They have been slaying folks without the front tags. I have the luck of the Irish to ensure I will be one of them as well, so looking for a fix. Not sure this hide a tag device is the answer. The mounts for this seem like a sure fire fail. Rubber lined screw/nuts that "expand." Problem I see echoes what Baylor had happen, vibraion from the road will loosen the screws and clunk...tag is gone.

Yup, weird thing though, is that 2 of the 3 rubber pieces stayed in the bumper and all the screws came out. Even using lock tight! I'm going to get another bracket (once I get new plates......ugh). I'm going to secure it better using washers and nuts, etc. I'd secure it better than what comes with the kits.
