I was only in tire business for 35 years... We plugged lawn mower tires, and farm wagon tires... the plug is ok for a get home fix.. if you cut yourself, would you stick something in the cut? take the tire and have a "high speed" rated, proper inside repair Please....

Ok NHTSA says:
Tire Repair

The proper repair of a punctured tire requires a plug for the hole and a patch for the area inside the tire that surrounds the puncture hole. Punctures through the tread can be repaired if they are not too large, but punctures to the sidewall should not be repaired. Tires must be removed from the rim to be properly inspected before being plugged and patched.

that's when ya get "torched!"..all tire people will tell you they cannot plug,or patch a sidewall!..too much danger of a blowout!..heat and pressure!..it's too bad ya "caught" one on the sidewall!..c'est lavie!

Second is my Camaro, and granted GM quit making cars half-assed (mostly) it is still a new model production run... and.. well.. still a GM lol.

In both cases I managed to work the warranties in with negotiating final price so got a good deal based on asking prices... and they will more than pay for themselves with a single claim.

Still, for most products it's a scam.
i agree about the camaro!..wondering if the car will hold up too!..check back in 3 years!..(lol!)..don't want to tell myself!..now why did you ever buy that f**kin' camaro!..(lol!..good luck to us!

I wasn't that lucky two weeks ago. Woke up to a low air warning light for my left rear. Filled it and drove to a tire place. They determined it was in the side wall. Non repairable. Only had 12,000 miles. New tire ordered and installed a few days later. Cost for a 245/50/19 stock replacement was over $175.00

My camaro looked weird with a spare tire though! Hopefully never again!
You're lucky, my mom was driving her truck along a road with a lot of construction and ended up with a piece of threaded rod in the tire. The worst part though was that it hit one of the belts inside of it so on the sidewall every inch around the tire had a tear.
