Of course, the time he ran had a CAI and Exhaust, so I do not think you could consider this stock as well. The mentioning of the weight advantage and gearing advantage just shows how the GT can run with the L99 given certain conditions and drivers. However, the L99 has ran a good .5 tenths better than any stock 2010 GT I've heard of.

Your low 13s car with a tiny lil 281 ci motor has a ~400lb weight, gear, and SRA advantage. It's all relative, which is why these mod v. mod debates are really pointless. To me, it's all about the drive.
i really need to get my car weighed. because im not sure where youre getting the ~400 lbs from.

my 2001 GT (which is a lighter chassis than the 05+ S197 cars) weighed 3550 without me in it. and i know my current GT is much heavier than that car.

also if two cars are racing and both have auto trannys i dont really consider that a "drivers" race. only the person who cuts the tree down has the advantage...after that the driving is up to the car.

IIRC, the 2010 GT weighed around 3500 and the L99 weighed 3910. So I can be off a little, given 20-30lbs or so.

that info on the 2010 cant be correct. my 01 GT weighed that much. and the new cars are much heavier. it wouldnt surprise me if my car weighed 3700-3800 lbs.

how do you know you're not a garbage driver too? and i always thought when one has a self shifting transmission, that kind of takes the driver out of the equation?
Before I can say what makes me NOT a garbage driver, we must first define what does it mean to actually BE a garbage driver. Don't get me wrong, I've raced many different cars, modded trans-ams, srts, mercedes, bmw, and I've came out on top in those instances, in STOCK form. I consider a bad driver a guy who loses a race in a car which has all the decks in it's favors to win and loses because of his lack of skill. You can have a fast car, but you just might not know how to drive it or handle it's power; some guys are scared to push it.

With all cars, auto or not, it's down to the launch, that can be both the beginning or the end of the race. I mean, with an auto all you have to do is put it in sport competitive mode and floor the bad boy and watch it go; watch out for wheel spin though. sigh. You can't say I'm a bad driver just because I've never raced at the track and produced a particular time of your liking, and you may not be able to say I'm a good driver, to your liking or skill, but there is nothing indicative that I am a bad driver. YOU just can't say,.....I just believe I'm a good driver because I've faced guys with similar powered cars and beat them, not because they sucked, but because I was a better driver at that particular time; I had a better launch and then my car took over from there.

You see when I look at racing, I don't immediately equate a driver as good or bad, I try to just stick to the numbers that the car is producing, and based on which car wins, I usually account that win, not to just the driver but to the numbers and power of the car. There is a scientific reason as to why one car won the race and another didn't. For instance, if you take 2 stock auto SS' and raced them, who'd win? If they're putting out similar rwhp it should depend on the driver and the LAUNCH,(who get's the jump first), from a 60 roll it might be dead even if they both floor it at nearly the same time. Manual vs manual, it definitely depends on the driver more because you actually have to DRIVE the car and switch the gears.

Again, I raced an SRT8 Charger auto, I beat him everytime, why though? Is it because I just floored it before him, or my car had a better power to weight ratio to pull ahead on the top end? With these cars, my honest opinion is that, NUMBERS do mean alot. Drivers play a great part, but once the driver does his part to push the car to the limit in a race, his car has to listen and PERFORM with the power available to it. To me, driver and car is a duality relationship, you can only run as fast as the power available to you by the car, and your car can only perform as great as the driver controlling it.

This would obviously increase with an Auto and luxuries. However, the L99's weight would increase the same with the luxuries.

I love how I can freely admit that the 2011 GT is a faster car then mine, straight line, road courses.. doesn't matter.

yet the mustang fans can't admit that their last years model is a tiny bit slower.
