I agree.... but the ideal that you cannot argue stays the same...... It takes more skill to drive a manual than an auto...... Anyone who can drive a manual can attest to that.... We're not picking on auto's, just stating an obvious fact...

You are correct, but M6 drivers shouldn't pat themselves on the back for it ... After all you can train a monkey to do it with a little practice.

Dont hate on the M6 guys.... I didn't start this. Just stating the obvious. I am a little prejudice.... If my wife(who is a TERRIBLE driver), can operate a car... then it takes little to no skill to drive. Manual just gives you that little extra control... even during braking. Even the most hardcore A6 guys cant argue with that.

The only reason I would get an auto would be for drag racing. Trans brakes are cool. But for a dd I have an m6. I live in an area with lots of traffic and I still wouldn't get an auto. Everytime I drive an auto I mash the brake pedal thinking its the clutch! But thats just me being a dumb ass. Plus I find driving an auto soo boring. My mind drifts off and the required concentration of shifting keeps me focused. But I don't think owning an auto is "girly" or inferior. Plus I'm not a fan of the L99's afm thing.

I guess you answered the question, using tap shift you can down shift the auto, and where as there is no point where the clutch is in, your drivetrain is always engaged giving the auto more control. I am not bashing manuals either.I have driven manual cars most of my life and love them. It seems that people get very touchy over the subject but the fact is both cars are great and there are quite a few of us on here who have a great amount of experience with manuals but for what ever reason chose the auto and love it just as much as you love your manual. Why everyone gets so touchy is beyond me.

That isn't true. In a panic stop, they're the same. If you catch yourself in a sideways skid, advantage goes to the auto in most cases.
