Ok, well the first line of your reply was "It has nothing to do with skill". It does. Just like riding and shifting a motorcycle does. So that was a bit inflammatory...

My hands are average to maybe a bit smaller than average and I have no problems with accessibility within the 180 range.

I could see where some might not be able to retain that regardless of where your right hand is (if you haven't let go) it's the upshift, same for the left.

We're cool tho...

Yes we are cool, I wasn't trying to say you have no skill I just find that with hands cris-crossed you don't have the same control. By the way I build custom motorcycles so am familiar with all kinds of shifting I recently sold my 48 panhead, foot clutch/hand shift that's skill LOL.

Cool! the oddest bike I ever rode was a copy of a Russell Mitchell custom with the clutch done as a twist action of the left grip. Talk about weird at first. But I dug it!

That is odd, on the old harley's on the left bar is front brake and timing control, right is throttle. On the left tank is the shifter, left foot is clutch right foot is brake. I just realized something, I'm a dummy. I untill this momement didn't look at driving and shifting as a skill. I've been doing it so long it's natural but if I look back 40 plus years when starting out I would probably think differently.

still waiting for a paddle shifter item that will mount to the steering column and be stationary. I don't really care what anyone says about best practices for driving, that's what I want, and what I would find useful.

Exactly right. And the tapshift setup of the Camaro proves a challenge that skill can master!

OP, sorry for the thread jack! We get carried away sometimes....

Damn right. Shuffle steer and use the console mounted shifter.

Does the auto not have a gate where the car can be manually shifted, i.e. (+/-) ? If not so, bad on GM...

The one pictured above looks like wings for your steering wheel. They will inadvertently get bumped.

Do the paddle shifters in true paddle-shift cars even move with the steering wheel?
