My M6 will lay you back in the seat adequately.

You will need to decide which(auto/manual) is better for your type of driving.

I have not been in an Auto, but I know my M6 is not at all slugish.

My A6 with the 20" tires won't spin, it just goes ... Very fast off the line due to the gearing. Down side for some is there is no LSD on the auto ...

what RPMs did you find it sluggish? Also were you in D or S mode in the auto? If you are in S mode (sport) the car will downshift very easily and will drop multiple gears! This results in getting your RPMs way up in the power band giving you that snappy feeling! So in the manual you would need to be doing a lot of aggressive downshifting to keep your RPMs up.. I've been watching the gears in my auto lately and I notice it will drop from like 6th to 3rd! (IIRC... will try it again... LOL)

The manual should definitley not have been more sluggish.

If anything, at least by 'Feel', the stick should have been peppier. Obviously. Because you can engage it faster.

I haven't driven the V6s though.

My V6 M6 isn't sluggish.

Besides the lack of limited slip differential on the auto, there are some other differences to be aware of.
  1. Gearing between the two is different. Link
  2. A small percentage of the manuals have binding/grinding issues going from 1st to 2nd. There are a few of us that have already had our entire transmissions replaced under warranty due to this. Link

Tried it out on the highway... cruising at 60 MPH in 6th... drop the hammer, car down shifts to 2nd! At 70 MPH it drops from 6th to 3rd... RPMs jump from 2000 to just under 5000 RPM which is nicely in the power band...

I was only able to test drive automatics, they never had any manuals in my town. The auto was nice but I knew manual would be better and more fun for me. I love my 6-speed manual, no regrets at all. And it's my daily driver. Go with the stick.

Unless you are in stop and go traffic alot, get the stick. You loose HP to the rear wheels with the auto. Plus, you gain the ability to switch out the gears in the rear end.
