Wheel Fitment Questions....

Hey Camaro5 Wheel Experts....
I ran into a killer deal today for some used wheels/tires. The only problem...they're not staggered, all four wheels are supposedly 20" X 10". They were previously installed on a BMW X5, and all four have 275/40R20 tires on them. I don't know the offset or back-spacing specs yet, trying to get that information from the seller (not sure if he knows). But several questions are running through my mind...

1.) It is feasible to run a 20 x 10 on the front of the Camaro SS without fitment issues?
2.) Is there a website somewhere that I can figure out what the front and rear offset requirements would be on my 2010 SS with a 20 x 10 rim all the way around? Or does anyone know?
3.) How can I figure out what the offset would be on these wheels if they were installed on a BMW X5?
4.) What is the most inexpensive way to ship complete wheel/tire sets? What should I expect to pay? The only bad part of this "deal" is the shipping, I think he wants way too much to ship them?

Please help if you can...
Thanks.

Well, that's good news, that's a good start to all my questions, thanks!

I guess I should probably say that these wheels I found do have the 5 x 120 bolt pattern, so that is not a concern at this point.

Thanks.

That is probably why it is such a good deal. A lot of people price stuff cheap then try to make up the difference by charging crazy shipping charges. Good luck

Have the seller lay a straight edge across the backside of the wheel lip (not the tire, the actual back edge of the rear lip) and measure from that straight edge to the backside of the lug mounting pad. That will give you the backspacing. If you are 100% sure the wheel is indeed a 10" wide wheel, we can calculate the offset if you have that backspacing information. Offset requires wheel width and backspacing to calculate it.

Also, be sure there is proper brake clearance between the spokes and the brake calipers. Camaro has one of the largest brake protrusions on the market, the calipers stick out nearly 2 inches measured from the disk brake lug pad. Not many wheels allow for this clearance. BMW X5 has puny calipers in comparison.

10" wheel will fit up front with the 275 tire on it. It will be very tight, might stick out if the offset isn't perfect.

A smoking deal on a used set of wheels is still a waste of money if things do not fit properly. I'd advise you to find someone with a 2010 Camaro that is local to him, see if you can ask (pay?) them to test-fit the wheels on their car prior to buying/shipping them to you. You don't want any surprises.

blazzin1, if you have any questions about what Nine Ball is refering to in his first paragraph, about the measurements.... take a look at this thread and it will be very clear what he ask you to do.

Thank You both for the much-needed advice. I'm still trying to get the seller to go measure the back-spacing for me. He's kinda slow to respond to e-mails!! I did find one BMW website that simply showed the "X5" as being a "High Offset Wheel" vehicle, which I believe the Camaro SS is too, but I know that still doesn't mean they will fit correctly.
I priced these wheels out new on the manufacturers website and it came to nearly $6,000, and that doesn't include the included tires. I can get this set with good tires for about 1/3 that price. It might be worth it to just get them, and if they don't fit, I could probably turn them for a little profit anyway! Any thoughts?

Personally, unless I already had an outlet to be able to sell them quick, you could get stuck with them.....since they are such a good deal as you say, why haven't they sold already or while you are getting info? We know your really like them, but it makes you wonder just how desirable they really are to the masses, even Beemer people. just saying....just lookin out for ya, thats all.

Okay, I got the "skinny" on these wheels....

All four wheels are 20 x 9.5 with a +33mm offset, bolt pattern 5-120. Will they fit on my SS, both front and rear???? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
