As for Camaro sales, Chevy designed a car that has appeal to the market and which made a splash particularly among a long-deprivedroup of loyalists, and now they are reaping the rewards. The Z/28 will be another success story for 2011 as it will almost certainly be the uber-muscle car to beat next year. Last edited by syr74; 12-26-2010 at 10:44 AM. |

Now they have to compete against a company that did none of those things and has had the fairy godmother magically vaporize their debt so now GM comes out as a lean mean fighting machine. This is the same thing that happens in the airline industry. Badly managed companies somehow manage to re-float to compete against the companies that DID manage their business well and are able to undercut the companies that WERE doing well so they ALL end up gong down. one mans humble opinion I love GM (product) but to talk ANY smack against Ford is not right.

Love it when the ford fanboys react to such news. Numbers is what this guy relies on as he drives his butt-ugly mustang around and no one notices. Reminds me of my co-worker who goes on and on about his 5.0 (nice care actually), but can't get over the attention the camaros are getting. Lots of Sweet 11-second camaros around. I wonder if they're worrying about the extra $5K they potentially spent--which is what this ford guy plants his whole argument on? Probably not, as they smoke most cars on the road and still get the head-turning attention they love. To each his own, but it is funny to read through the envy that bleeds thru these comments

63 posts but the fact remains that the Camaro will out sale the mustang for 2010 ,and after all isn't that what this thread is supposed to be about.

Back on Topic, the recent trend shows that next year will be an interesting sales match-up. From January thru April, the Camaro sold 9,000 more cars than the Mustang (previous model). After April and the release of the 5.0, Ford has actually sold ~2k more cars than GM. Just one of many yardsticks anyway, I would prefer to sell less units at higher margin... that is the important number we cannot see.

wbt - surely you are not this naive. insurance quotes range wildly from area to area, car to car, person to person.
to try to claim one car is cheaper to insure when they are in the same category .. obviously false. remember, the camaro was gone for nearly a decade, while one of, if not the most popular sportscars on the market stuck around depreciating. this allowed teens to drive them and run them into walls. being one of the few who cross shopped both of them, the insurance was about 60$ less per 6 months for the Camaro, for me. this will change for everyone based on location/car/history/insurance carrier blah blah.
