The GT500 is slower than the Grand Sport in everything except being dead even with it in 0-100. I'd like to see these times getting beat by the 2011 GT500. I'm yet to see any review posting numbers where the Grand Sport is anywhere slower than the GT500.

Ok, once more.... the C6 vette is nothing more than a lighwight Camaro with 10 more HP.... so if we can't compare those to a GT500, what else is there.... But, there is a video on youtube of a 2010 Grand Sport vs 2010 GT500 and its not even close..... and there weren't that many changes from 2010 to 2011 on the GT500, so I'm not sure what you're watching.... The vette was almost 4 seconds faster, shorter braking distance, and better handling... sooooooooo what else?

Ford has no direct competition for the Corvette. The Corvette in any trim level is a "sports car" and a true performance bargain.
The Camaro/Mustang/Challenger's in their higher trim levels are modern muscle cars. Totally different class of cars. Stock to stock the Mustang GT500(the GT500 is a trim level option on a Mustang according to my invoice from Ford)has no competition from the Camaro until the Z28 is released.
I was very close to buying a used C6 Z06 before I bought my GT500. Yes the C6 Z06 is a rocket of a car and I have no doubt that it would take down my GT500 in terms of shear performance. But at the end of the day I choose a new GT500 over a used C6 Z06 (same price point) because on the street the GT500 is a more livable car "for me" and if it's a car I have to live with on a day to day basis I ultimately preferred a muscle car over a sports car and it's a blast to drive. I bought my 2010 GT500 just as the 2011's were about to arrive and got a pretty good deal on it and actually paid within a $1000 of what a friend of mine paid for his loaded 2010 SS L99 last fall. (I live in Canada so everything costs more. Lol)
Right now is a good time to be a car guy and have the choices that we have. GM, Ford and Dodge are all making some pretty cool cars.
You seem to be so hyped up on the Corvette that it makes me wonder why you bought a Camaro SS when you could have bought a couple years old base C6 for about the same money?

Go back and read some of the post from the last few days and you'll see why the statement you quoted was made.

As for your statement, i agree with you, but some just cant seem to understand that comparing apples to apples is fair which would be a Camaro with a SC added and make it the most comparable competition to the GT500. By adding a SC to the SS doesn't make it fair to a GT500?!?! because its not "STOCK"... How is it not an apple to apple race then?? I mean the GT500 still has an advantage with the weight, and performance handling.... but it would be as close to a future Z28 than anything, and would prolly make a damn good comparo video or magazine since so many depend on that for their info. Good write up tho!!
