There are a lot of crazies out there and yes using his name specifically is just not right. Just remember LOE's are public servants just like elected officials, military personnel, firefighters, etc. They are all subject to public critique without backlash, it just sometimes isn't tasteful or smart to do so.

Do not publicly shame a cop for doing his job. That's not right. As others have said, if you broke the law, you broke the law, no matter how stupid you think it is.

Well the thread started off alright...I guess it is just a matter of time until the bashing starts.

I have been pulled over only once in this car and it was my own fault. I also kinda get a kick out of people who think they were pulled over because of their car when it is sundown and you can't see the color or make of the car until you have already initiated your lights or pulled out for a stop.

I'm a police officer in Ohio near Cleveland. And Yes I look at Camaros when they go by. Not to stop them, but to see what other have done with theirs and see if i get any good ideas as I own a 2010 RS.

Usually we do have better things to do than window tints, no front plates, etc...but sometimes we are assigned to the "traffic patrol" which enforces such laws. While I dont always agree with them, I didnt make them. I try to issue a "fix it" ticket first to give you a chance to fix the issue.

My car has a front plate and the windows are right at 50% (legal limit in ohio). Our speed limit here on the highway is 65mph and I dont even look up until you go 80mph. If you are hammering it passing everything in site you can expect a ticket. if you are cruising along you will get looked at....by me it will be out of respect.

So if you are driving in Ohio by Cleveland and a cop waves at you in your Camaro...you know why.

I have gotten pulled twice for speeding. It was around 12 to 13 over on I95. However, I really wasn't trying to speed and after a 15 hour day of work I was tired and not paying attention. Both times got off with a verbal warning. I gave no excuse and no attitude and heck, I knew I was speeding because when I saw them I looked down at my speed and said sh!^. I was thankful for the breaks and now use cruise more often.

No tickets in my Camaro. I drive respectably, no tint, rocking the Brad Paisley, IBM is pretty innocuous, stock exhaust. Hey, I'm a gramma driving around with her cute little dog in the car. They're looking for you guys, not me.

I was profiled and didn't like it, then the thread was moved to be buried. I guess LEO's do stick together. To the one and only that contacted me directly this was not directed towards you in any way. And still no responce back from BCSD....go figure

Just read your old post stevea. while i think it was bad form for the officer to get so close that is about all i can agree with there.

He didnt stop you and i cant even pretend to know what he was doing exactly. No he shouldnt have gotten so close. He does however have every right to "run" your plate at random. The Supreme court has upheld this on several occasions.

Maybe he followed you because you matched the description of a suspicious vehicle. maybe they didnt have the plate right away and when he got it, he got close to you again to see if you matched. since you didnt he backed off. you did say he backed off after the 2nd approach. I dont know. I wasnt there and there are too many what if's.

Now if he would have stopped you for some made up BS reason then I'd say there is a legit complaint. As far as tailgating it is one car length for 10 miles per hour speed limit. 55mph = 5 to 6 car lengths behind.

I'm not gonna pretend and say every cop is a great guy because in our profession just like every other, a few bad apples makes us all look bad.

agree with hollywood2010.. not to mention.. I can't even see my own spoiler out of my rearview mirror!! let alone the front bumper of anything within 10 lengths behind me. I like to sit low in my car. I can still see the road ahead of me (but none of my bumper) and It keeps me from tailgating on accident.

If they get to close for comfort just double tap your brakes gently (not enought for the brakes to actually slow you down but enough for the lights to come on.) I don't know about where you live but around here it's a polite way of asking someone to back off as opposed to brake checking someone! (Not many cars are gonna stop as fast as my SS with it's brembo brakes!!) 60-0 in like 105 feet. If you gently double tap the brakes it tells the officer that you see them there and that you would like for them to back off.

I have had cops get right on my bumper before. I make sure I'm not speeding or driving too far below speed limit. then If they are too close I double tap my brakes gently. Normally the officer will back off a bit and I have even seen them in my rearview raise their hand up in a "hi. my bad." type of gesture... after that they seem to leave me alone.

I used to have a really bad temper and hit the exit ramps downrevving (I could go from 70 to 15 on an off ramp without hitting the brakes by just dropping gears in my old SRT4) and almost make the cop rearend me.. but I'm not 16 anymore and I don't act quite that childish nowadays.

Dont' worry I know my SS won't do it.. It's a thousand pounds heavier that my little skittle was. It has too much momentum an too tall of gears to be effective at it.
