first 500 mile oil change and Nitrogen fill

Just changed my oil yesterday at a little over 650 miles as well as putting on a magnetic drain plug and here are my thoughts.

First of all the oil was pretty dark which really surprised me, but thankfully didn't see any metal bits in the oil. Made me feel good about changing it and knowing when it was done and it's done right.

I also had them fill up my tires with Nitrogen and thankfully they didn't put on the green caps. The ride with the Nitrogen is actually noticeable to me. I live in a town where the roads have a lot of dips and you can get a lot of road noise sometimes. Switching to Nitrogen made a difference in ride and road noise.

How much did they charge to fill the tires up? I was thinking of getting this done.

I think I paid $50.00 back in 2009 on my 2010. I am going to get it done again on my 2011. It does make a nice ride difference, and no "tire warning" lights on when its cold outside!

I googled magnetic drain plug, just make sure they have one that specifically will fit your car. I got one just to keep an eye on how my filter was doing and what type of engine wear I was getting.

I left the original factory fill engine oil in until I reached 9,400 miles (4% oil service life), then performed the first oil change. Mobil 1 synthetic oil does not break down & you have an oil filter to collect wear particles. I saved the old filter & will open it up with a special pipe cutter & inspect it. The oil begins to turn dark from the products of combustion as soon as you drive the car, which is normal & doesn't indicate that oil is dirty.

I have the same question.

Maybe everyone doesn't know air contains 78% nitrogen. Hard to believe an extra 22% is noticeable.

+1, and don't forget extra washers for future changes, the plug for the V6 is AP-04.
