h/c/i = 507rwhp. more than most said possible. and not the end. more power is on the way.
I did not think they would go that high. That is right with an LS3 (at peak) all the way and only just starting out. Max effort LS3's are at 530RWP with most H/C cars around ~490.

I'll admit I was wrong first hand. That is impressive! I thought 470-480 max.

Is the car stock bottom end and pump gas?

Any idea of the cost on a H/C build for a 5.0? I know the cams would be expensive buying 4. And I also thought that intake was on the pricey side. But then again the 5.0 guys dont have to waste the money on axles etc. Very nice.

How is drive-ability? does it have some lope at idle?

The big, ugly, heavy, 22's+ on the Camaro probably contributed to the poor performance.
The 3.7 V6 in the new Mustangs are pretty impressive, for sure. Other than poor driving skills and the heavy wheels, there is no other reason why the SS lost to the 3.7.....stock for stock.

uhm if 22's on a camaro SS mean that it's goina loose to a mustang v6 something is clearley not right. There is a guy running 10's on 24" all the way around. The v6 mustang should not come close to the ss at all peroid end of story.

Putting 22" rims on your camaro does not = loosing to mustang v6. there are tons of members with 22's and 24's on here

it costs in the 5k range for everything. cams are regrinds. shop guesses at what will work.

cam manufacturers will 100 percent make more power.

boss302 intake is 289.00.

most are guessing 530rwhp for a streetable combo.

stock bottom end on pump gas. stock bottom end has handled 804rwhp and has hundreds making 600rwhp reliably. its plenty strong for 7800 rpms.

Cool.

Looks like it has matched the LS3 NA.

the copperhead PCM is hard coded for 7800 rpm limits. folks are trying to figure out a way around it.

it looks like cam only is in the 460-470rwhp range.

For now. I bet they get to about 500rwhp cam only in the future with new grinds etc.

2011 Camaro or 2011 Mustang GT 5.0

I will buy a new 2011 performance car in the next 30 days. Right now I am leaning toward the Mustang GT 5.0 with the 6M tranny and a 3.73 gear ratio. I have driven both the auto and the manual transmission Mustang with very pleasing results. The dual OHC engine has a unique sound and a tremdous amount of torque for a 5.0 liter engine. The 412 hp rating seems to be understated and the add on performance options are very appealing. There are quite a few companies that are catering to the new Mustang with tuners, CAI systems and exhaust. I am not seeing that with the Camaro. Maybe I just don't know where to look.

Next week I am planning on testing a 2011 Camaro automatic and manual. I have to admit if it was on just looks alone I would be leaning toward the Camaro. However Mustang offers so many options in their appearance groups you can also make the Mustang look pretty darn good as well.

I am asking for your opinion on why I should buy a Camaro over the Mustang.

Thanks,
DL

As far as the aftermarket goes, I think you'll find the camaro offers more. Just search the forum. I drove a new 5.0 with the 3.73 and agree box stock it's more fun. Good luck.

Only mustang I would ever consider is a grabber blue/white stripe GT500, svtpp and electronics package. Every other mustang is just another mustang, nothing special (some "special" editions excluded).

The post sounds like an infomercial to by the Mustang. Guess you kinda threw the Camaro a bone on the "looks issue"
