I would guess, the Camaro has more rep. than the Mustang.
I'd prefer Chevy over Ford.

I'm a bit biased toward the Mustang for obvious reasons. I was planning on getting a Camaro for a long time, but changed my mind at the last minute because the Mustang felt better on the narrow, curvy back-roads near where I live (The new motor helped its case too). I would have to agree that the Camaro looks better though.

You'd probably be very happy with either car. It depends on what you are looking for in a car. For better handling, go with the Mustang. For better style or better brakes, go with the Camaro.

Whichever you decide, though, I would recommend the manual transmission.

HOW are you leaning to the FORD , if you have not tested to CAMARO yet ,that alone tells me that you have your mind set on the blue oval which is okay, but one should drive both of them first then do the pros and cons on each one , but this must be me !

There's some truth there. That's partly why I'm here.

32Fountain,

This is where you look. However, since you seem to be new to the Camaro world it's going to take you some time to find what you are looking for. If you are interested in the bolt on NA stuff the check out V8 bolt on section and read through what some of us have already done and where we have bought our parts from. If you are interested in forced induction, well there is a section for that too. Suspension, wheels, tuning it's all here and in different sections.

I guess what what I am trying to say is you have your work cut out for you because there are HUNDREDS of posts in each section covering exactly what can be done to make Camaros faster. But just like the Mustang there are plenty of ways to do it or places to just take it to have it done. Search away on here and by the time you take your test drive next week in the Camaro you will have a better idea of what can be done to make an already spectacular car even better.

If you think the mustang sounds good just check out one of the sound clips here or my favorite set up which is this. Good luck with whatever you choose but you won't find a better group of folks, or more knowledgeable, than those right here.

T.

The Mustand as a car in whole is better than the Camaro. The car weighs less and is built off a decaded coupe platform. In every mesurable category the Mustang will slightly outpace the Camaro expect overall horse power. In fact one of the reasons I picked my 2010 Camaro over a 2010 Mustang GT was the the fact at 315hp the 4.6L modular was a dog compared to the LS3/L99. With all that in mind I would still take my Camaro over a GT for one simple reason, have you seen how it looks compared to the Mustang. Everywhere I go my Camaro is looked at and I get questions about. When I owned a Mustang it was just another Mustang and nobody cared at all. The Camaro has a special presence (imo) that only a few cars can match.

Well, it does kind of sound like you are already sold on the blue oval. I'll tell you why I would pick the Camaro over a Mustang (and why I did... car is on order! )

Personally, I don't like how the new Mustang looks. The 5th gen Camaro is a sweet looking car. It is a nice homage to the 69 Camaro without being a blatant rip off of it.

2011 Mustang got a refresh to the power department, giving it 5.0 engine that puts it back into the league with the Camaro. The 2010 Camaro vs 2010 Mustang wasn't even close with the Camaro beating the pants off of it. Now the Mustang is more in league with it. That said, the Camaro has the LS3 which is a venerable engine that has been proven to make a lot of power and take to mods pretty nicely.

The interior of the Camaro is better, IMO. I LOVE Heads Up Display and you don't get that with the Mustang. The gauges are nicer too and if you get the SS2, you get the aux gauge cluster which is awesome (and I hear it can be added pretty easily with the other trim levels that don't have it).

Anyway these are just my opinions and obviously, I'm biased to the car I picked. If you get a Mustang, more power to you but I'm Chevy all the way

Can't go wrong with either one, OP. They're both excellent cars - in fact it would've been a real tough decision if I'd waited a year to buy my Camaro, after Ford re-entered the horsepower wars and made for some serious competition - I still think I would've got the Camaro, but pitting a 312hp V6 against an aging 210hp V6 did make it a lot easier, so I don't envy you making this choice. Even Dodge has its ponies back in the race thanks to their own re-engining.

THe simple fact is you're posting this on a Camaro forum, where a lot of people wouldn't buy a Ford if Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Klingons, and Satan himself actively endorsed GM. The reverse is no doubt true on a Mustang forum. My advice is, go test drive them both yourself, check out the specs, the warranties, and so on, and go from there. And ignore the biased stuff while you're at it.

Good luck!

I'm not going to down a Mustang since I own a Camaro. My neighbor bought a 2011 GT 5.0 and it is a very nice vehicle. Although, for the simple fact that they have done something really bad with that big huge plastic on the bottom of the rear bumper, I would run as far away from that car as I could.
