LS3 heads question
Hey all,
Im getting kinda confused with all the LSX/LS1/LS2/LS3/LS7 etc numbers... How much hp can the stock LS3 heads handle? How much do they go for new? Sorry for the noob question but its easy for a noob like me to get confused... Thanks |

Its not what they can handle but how much they can make and it varies from one stage to another as well as the cam involved.. how much are you looking to make?

What HP are you at now and what have you done so far? There are many paths you can take to get to that number including keeping the heads you have. I can't imagine getting to 700whp on aftermarket heads alone. Anyway...if you are at stock right now and don't have experience driving this car at even 450rwhp or 500 or 600 I'd suggest trying that first and then mod up from there if you still need more. Personally, I'm at 507 rwhp and it's a lot to handle. I'm looking at doing more really for engine safety more than anything else. I don't want to be above 600 rwhp not only because it's a lot to handle but also because I don't want to have to replace most of the drive train to handle it. Already I'm needing to replace the suspsenison and fuel delivery, probably clutch and driveshaft eventually...just .02, maybe you are an old pro motorhead..if so, sorry and ignore me

alot more info needs to be divulged.
did you want the assistance of a supercharger, turbocharger, or nitrous? if not, you are looking at getting aftermarket heads, redoing the bottom end and a very strong possibility of having a solid roller setup to achieve 700 rwhp.

Sorry about the lack of details. I am stock so far, just trying to get everything together in my head so that I can get to that point in the future. I was planning on using either a s/c or turbo.
Thanks for the info shared so far. Anyone that already has around 700rwhp care to share there mods/build? Im just trying to figure out the layout that I would like to go. Thanks |
