![]() All joking aside, I'm seriously considering dropping down to 18s when I have the extra cash. The 20s look good, but I prefer the comfort/performance advantages I'll have with the 18s. I'm just hoping that a couple more manufacturers will have some more 18" options by this fall. ![]() By the way, I got rid of my DOD, but I kept the VVT when I went with my aftermarket cam. I like the VVT and I also didn't feel the need to do the LS3 conversion at this time. If I end up doing my stroker build I'll do the conversion at that time.

...and in your case you don't want a big cam with the maggie... so in keeping VVT you won't have to pull heads and can save a few bucks. Dangeruss kept VVT with his Whipple build and it sounds great and got some nice gains too.

The threads below I presume? The two of them are based on N/A builds. Pretty impressive, but I wonder what a F/I gain will be as apposed to N/A? |

You're case is a prime one for keeping the heads on and keeping VVT since you already have a blower and don't need a high lift cam. You will see nice 40 hp gains and get the cool sound too without breaking the bank. I had new heads going on so it was an easy decision for me to remove lifters... |

But, it is what it is I guess. The moving parts is the part that shifts the cam to advance or retard timing. I think it's activated with pressure. But not sure. I know some VVT cams actually have pins in them that slide to lock a rotating lobe to a bigger lobe. But I think that's a Toyota. I can't remember. I'll see if I can find the vid. |

Here's one vid.
But, I'll talk to my guy and see what may be best. If my guy is in Houston, or Jacksonville, I don't know yet. Obviously, being the last performance based mod I'll more than likely do, power wise, I want as much power gain as I can get. I'm really not looking for the sound. I just want the power.

At a stop light on the street the auto will win almost every time. Just a little mistake and the auto is gone. |
