As long as GM believes this, then it's all good. Because then they'll go build something even more bad azz. Which means we win once again. Car wars are great for all of us and I'm so glad they made a comeback!

Wow..... maybe there's something to their claim about track performance. I know the article cites Motor Trend and Ford claims but still....

Quote:
How fast is that? Well, we compared those times against a few vehicles from our MRLS lap-time database and were astonished. With a professional racing driver behind the wheel, the 2009 BMW M3 that competed in our 2008 Best Handling competition clocked a 1:42.9. In our 2009 Best Driver's Car competition the 2010 Shelby GT500 lapped in 1:44.3 while a 2010 Audi R8 did it in 1:40.8. This puts the Boss 302 in a very elite field, and it's not the fastest Boss. According to Ford, Bomarito lapped the Boss Laguna Seca under 1 minute and 40 seconds.

Not really sure just how they are thinking, the ZL1 has A LOT MORE horsepower and torque than the BOSS, yes it does weigh a little more and the ZL1 has not even been out for them to test so for them to say what did is just plan stupid!!! Maybe they think that the ZL1 will not be able to make all that power work on the "track" course but again, they have not seen or tested on so they should not be making any statements like they did!!!!

Well guys you know who we are dealing with "Motortrend". I have one of the first issues that Motortrend did on the release of the Camaro, and it was mention that they were partial to the Mustang.

Of course I call and canceled my subscription, if I wanted a bias opinion I would go out and buy a Mustang magazine.

Power is not everything on a road course. Look at the GT500. It makes 550HP, and the Boss smoked it. Did you ever think that maybe Motortrend threw out that last sentence as a challenge for Chevy. Magazines like Motortrend love the pony car wars going on right now. It helps to sell magazines.

I would guess that they would be right ... it will be hard to compete with the BOSS in the ZL1 configuration. I doubt the 2011 GT500 would either ... ZL1 was meant to compete with the GT500 .. currently the boss has no competition in the Camaro world ...

Now straight line performance .. by by BOSS.

they're just baiting. I'm glad, it's just more motivation for GM.

I'm not saying I don't disagree with them, but I still have problems with comparisons. Compare a factory racecar to a factory racecar; the ACR comes to mind, but that's not exactly fair either, lol.

The more viable comparison would be SSX or Z/28 vs boss 302. Then they can talk sh!t. Track car vs track car.

ZL1 vs GT500

Z/28 vs boss

Anything less would uncivilized

that's a stupid thing to say.
Especially since we know the Camaro will overpower it to begin with.

While it will be uber-tough to overcome the mass of ZL1 (well - what I think it's going to be), I think it will at least be close. I'm not talking tenths, but I think it can get there. As long as GM can get the power down, I think ZL1 will do well. I hope they can compromise more on the NHV, and get us some really good bushings and tighten-up the suspension. I don't think many ZL1 buyers would mind a little more NVH for a lot better performance. I think the exhaust will distract them enough
