I have a black 1ss and I've been dying to put on it this nice stripe pattern that I came up with. But tryin to do it with vinyl is turning out to be a pain in the ass. I'm thinking it'd be much easier to tape the stripe pattern on to the car with painters tape and then spray it with plasti dip.

Do you guys think it would screw up the paint when it came time to take the plasti dip stripes off the car?
As far as I know there is no white plastidip

I tried masking off my rear bowtie instead of removing it. Unfortunately when I removed the masking tape it pealed of parts of the plasti dip with it.

Plus if you do them on the when u need to pull the wheels off they will ne ruined. Plus nobody will want to.mess with the car with everything painted. They wont want to be responsible for making the paint peel.

Thanks for the response. You are right, better safe than sorry. I will have to borrow some equipment. Not a problem though.

You have to pull the tape off when it's still wet.

Anyone else have any input in my idea of spraying the car with the plasti dip?

That would take a whole lot of plasti-dip and it wouldn't last. Once you got a tear somewhere, it might start to peel right off.

I'd google that, I remeber a dude with an infiniti doing that, when he removed it it took some paint with it. Now Nissan is infamous for bad paint. Anyone on this forum that thinks the camaro paint is weak should look at the front end of an g35 coupe....

I'm only planing on spraying a small part of the front of my ground effects kit so it won't take me more than 2 cans to do it.

I'm gonna wait and see if someone else will chime in here with another opinion

I tried that but you would have to keep masking off between coats - was easier to just remove the bowtie in the end, spray my multiple coats and remount.

lol yeah, that guy taking the plastidip off his nissan wasn't too smart. if this thing is so easy to come off i just don't see how it could peel off the paint on the car when it comes time to remove the plastidip.

i'm still nervous to try it though.
even if i did spray it with plastidip and then it started to peel off it wouldn't be such a big deal.

The entire job is only going to need two cans of the spray (if that) and some of my time. If it peels off a week later oh well.

Even if that happens you can live with it for a couple weeks to make sure you like it at least. Then if you like it go to the reputable body shop and have them spray it..
