The ONLY reason I got auto is my wife doesn't know how to drive stick and was scared to learn. It's her DD and her car got traded in towards it so not much I could do about it. That being said the auto is still alot of fun and with sport mode it takes most of the regret away

I understand knee issues; I wrecked my knee in HS. Have you ever tried driving a new manual trans car? Hydraulic Clutch is sooooo easy on the knees. Seriously, you should try it out sometime if you have the chance.

I don't understand everyone complaining about traffic. I have spent the past 14 months driving in Chicago rush hour traffic over 2 hours each way for work. I drove the Cobra all summer, and the Camaro all winter and spring. I don't get it.... Yeah, it's more involved than sitting half asleep with a coffee and a smartphone while listening to talk radio... but it keeps me engaged, awake, and it's Really, Really not that big of a deal to clutch in and out.

To each their own; but Ill never own another Auto as long as I live. Ugh, that 4T65E-HD in the GM FWD cars is the BIGGEST piece of sh!t.......

Oh, and anyone saying the auto is faster.... Im sorry, it just isnt. I raced my buddy with an auto v6... not even close. Then we switched cars... he beat me. Did the same thing at the strip with a pair of SS's. exhaust and intake. my buddy and his dad ran, switched cars, and ran. The manual always won. I just don't see it.
Odd about the SSA6. I drove one, punched it off the line. It seemed only a little quicker then my modded V6A6. And not near my 98 LS1 M6. Most have just been to new or

Not true...sure it shifts faster, but a manual will come off the line much quicker than the auto.

I thought you had much better control with a manual in snow and ice???

Does it really matter if you have a manual or not? Having a manual transmission doesnt make you any better of driver or cooler for that matter. I just don't quite get it. Like I mentioned earlier, I have a 91 Camaro with a Manual transmission and have no problem driving it. But for someone who drives 90% of the time on the hi-way during rush hour traffic to and from work, a manual transmission just isn't worth it.

Sure they may be fun to drive. But myself and I am sure others here don't want to have their foot constantly on the clutch moving in stop and go traffic every day for work.

I test drove a SS manual for about 20min, then went back and tried the v6 auto, I basically drove it down the street and came back and got a manual v6 for about 40min before I came back. I started going to all the dealers in area test driving the vSicks manual whenever I felt the need to get behind the wheel so as not to annoy the same dealer as if I were BSing him. Ended up getting the VSicks manual a few months later. I am sure the Auto is nice but I needed the sporty feel of winding out my shifts on the open road, that is whenever I can find some open road since most of my driving is the city and suburbs.

When I went to the dealer ready to buy they had no Manuals. I told them just what I wanted in options, color, seats, etc and manual trans, they had to locate it in another state after about a 2 day search and brought it up to my dealer. Got just what I wanted and more because he threw in some more stuff.

How does the 442 stack up against your SS?

Coming from the Grand Prix community, yes, the 4T65E-HD was the weakest slush box POS I've ever driven

I don't care if people choose autos. Go ahead and drive your slushbox The only thing that bothers me is that the manual transmission and the art of driving one is fading. It's almost impossible to find manual transmissions these days and some cars are auto ONLY. That is really what bothers me. Other than that, I don't care if some people prefer autos to manuals. I LOVE driving my manual and would not enjoy driving my Camaro even half as much if it was an auto
