I pay 400 every 6 months. 47, clean record, and a limited mileage car because I have others. I was gonna complain about NY until I saw the Canadian prices

$500 every 6 months with $250 deductible - 31 years old

And for everyone talking about age, your credit rating/history actually is what screws you over more...the better your credit, the better your rates...

I pay about $220 every 6 months with Allstate. I'm in upstate NY Good driving record and multi car policy. 63 years old and retired. Lower insurance rates is about the only thing that doesn't suck about the "Golden Years". Actually our 2010 Subaru Forester costs more!

One of the biggest factors in insurance cost is what city you live in. In fact even what part of what city you live in. I can tell you that when my brother moved from Miami to Gainesville his car insurance cost dropped about 65% over night, and that is in the same state.

Unless you have a major bad record, or are a teen age male that is the biggest factor in auto insurance.

It's a factor, but not nearly as much as you might think....the problem for your brother is he lives in Florida, which has some of the WORST insurance rates of ANY state....and he lived in the one city that constantly gets hit by hurricanes (Miami). Moving to Gainesville was a drop because he left a target area. Trust me, I know... I used to live in Key West...

I'd wager if he was to live anywhere but Florida, his rates would be fairly similar in many states...
