For the times that I do go to the track for road course and dragging, I have the extra power when I WANT to use it. Remember, you can buy a supercharger to have fun and not race ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE. I can get 14 mpg, or I can get 28, hell I can get 31 if I REALLY want to. It's all about how you drive the car.

TLR, The sticker of cars is the averagempg, but actual mpg will fluctuate based on how you drive the car.
Lol yes he DOES drive 60 sometimes ( trust me ive been behind him!) And he gets in the high 20s. I use my supercharger a lot and have been getting 19mpg lately......28 makes total sense

I was under the assumption that Companies such as Exxon leased the wells and paid the land owners whoever they may be.
From my username you can guess what I do for a living, and you are partially correct.

Most oil companies do get leases to blocks of land (either onshore or in the territorial waters of those places) where they believe they will find oil or natural gas. However, Saudi Arabia, and most emerging oil nations, are special cases. Most of these countries have large (rivaling ExxonMobil size, maybe not in technical expertise) National Oil Companies (BP used to stand for British Petroleum now its just BP as its no longer a national company), read that as "owned by the countries government". The way it normally works is that the national oil companies allow the independents to come in and help develop the resource. The way it works is the NOC gives the independent a big chunk of the development cost, the independent brings in the engineering skills to build the facilities and then after its developed and producing, the NOC's and the Independents split the profits through a revenue agreement. HOWEVER, the raw crude is sold on the open markets (for the most part) and thus once it hits the open markets the oil companies have no say in how it goes. The cost of a barrel of crude oil is based off of several indices (West Texas Intermediate, Brent etc) and is usually bought and sold by speculators and commodities dealers to pipeline companies etc.

Saudi Arabia is a special case. The Saudi's are very good technology speaking and have the skills to develop their own wells. As far as I know, and I've only been in the industry a few years, the independents do not have a large play in Saudi.

Also, as an FYI, most of the crude processed in the united states come from Canada, Mexico, Nigeria, and Venezuela. The Saudi's pop up in the 5th spot.

So depending on where "you" bought the crude from you are paying either the NOC (which is basically a payment to that countries government), an Independent (ExxonMobil, Conoco, BP, Shell, etc) or some combination of both.

If you'd like, I can speak to how and why Gas prices rise up very quickly and then take a long time to come back down. But I think the post is long enough as it stands.

No I don't think it will be rated as such. I'm guessing 17/23 for the ZL1, but that doesn't mean you can't get better than that. When I try to take it easy I've gotten great mileage as I posted before, but that's with cruise set between 65-70. On a normal weekly basis I drive in stop and go stop light traffic 80-85% of the time and I average around 15-16 then, but that's to be expected.

Not that any of that matters because I never bought this car for it's gas mileage.

28MPG?? Holy cow i would die of shock if i ever saw a number even close to that. I have 5005 miles on my 11'. I reset the MPG at every fill up and the best i have ever achieved is 17.2MPG with an avg speed of 27MPH. I have never been on a track and have lit up the tires briefly exactly 3 times. I have got on it a couple times here and there. Fastest speed she has ever seen is 94MPH exactly 1 time. I think the highest next speed has been 82.

That 17.2MPG was achieved during a tank where 75% of the tank was used on a single all highway no traffic trip on cruise at 65MPH. The other quarter used in just normal driving. My wifes Traverse gets better gas mileage with about 1200lbs more weight on the exact same roads i take daily. Sheesh

I paid $4.03 for REGULAR the other day. Premium has been in the $4.20 range for a couple of weeks around here... Oh well, not much I can do about it... The vehicle that takes regular gets worse mileage than the Camaro, and my husband's Siverado is diesel - we're screwed in the fuel bills no matter how we look at it.

So, there is an argument, backed by evidence, to be made that some democrats want high fuel prices.

The problem with the plan is that there is no viable alternative to fossil fuels at this point. The left pushes for electric vehicle use, yet they have not issued a permit to construct a nuclear power plant in 30+ years, and they are seeking to implement "cap and trade" where coal and natural gas powered plants would pay huge fees. So, where are we supposed to get the electricity to power all those electric cars? Not to mention the toxicity of producing and disposing of the lithium ion batteries those vehicles require. The lefts plan for energy policy does little more than transform and relocate pollution generated by energy use, all the while severely damaging our economy and our bank accounts.
