Couple of newbie questions on cosmetic mods:
1. What is the "best" way to black out the front and rear bow ties (on a Cyber gray SS) decal or paint?
2. Anyone had problems with window tint pealing, specifically from wear of the side windows going up and down?
3. Anyone added chrome or decal inserts in the rear quarter side vents? which type?

I haven't done any of these cosmetics yet. However, with the tinting, your not supposed to roll windows up or down for the first 3 or 4 days after the tint is applied. However, it could be that who ever installed them did not clean the windows very well and the film is not sticking. I've seen a few camaros out there with either the black or the crome gill accents. If you have a CGM, black gill inserts probably won't show up that well where crome would.

On the emblems I would go with paint or plasti dip. I did mine with paint just taped off the back end with lost of news paper and scuffed up the gold part and paint it on car. I would go with plasti dip now also it peels off.

I have tint and no issues with it at all
just depends how well they do it

Done all 3.
1. Tint, go to a good installer that backs up there work. Window indexing will cause bottom to lift.
2. Bowtie - All in your court. I found oem ABM to match paint & replaced. Vinyl or plasticoat if you ever want stock. Paint is a 1 time deal but easy to fix rock chips in paint.
3. Side Gills - There are metal inserts from Defenderworks in Chrome or Black. Or you can do vinyl which comes in different styles. They also do fades in different colors. I have silver fades. Post pics when your done.

Vinyl works well on the bowties. I got a piece of scrap from a local body shop and did mine in about 15 minutes...

I painted mine, I highly doubt once you black them out that you will wish you had not.

1. I bought my bowties from http://rpidesigns.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=1800 altho mine are CGM to match my car. They look awesome!
2.I have 20% tint all the way around with a strip on the windshield with no issues. (had a pro install it)
3. nvr done it.

1- Tint- have a pro do it. When they did mine they explained to me what they did for that same issue you are talking about. I think they heat dried it or something. I have had no issues. Dont go to someone that will do them for $50.
2- Bowties- I think everyone has given you enough opinions on that. I bought after market one for my Tahoe. Looks great.
3- Accents- I have the black accents in my gills. The thin ones though not the thick ones. I bought those from ridergraphix.com Not the easiest to put on but looks good.

Thanks again for the input. I'll order bowtie decals online (flat black). Then find the right local guys to install the tint. I will probably forego the vent accents... not so sure about it on cyber gray (maybe go silver to match over-top stripes, though I think a light accent on a dark car looks dorky). Since I never decide anything this important too quickly, I'll get pics out as soon as I decide what to do. Thanks!

I actually bought some vinyl gill accents and hated them on my CGM. They didn't last 5 mins. But I also have quarter panel fade decals which might have made a difference but I didnt like them.

For the gills, check out SLP. They have the best looking (most realistic) ones in the business. I was standing 3 feet away from another car that had them and they looked functional. Theyre a little pricey but if you dont mind spending the extra money, those are the way to go. Not trying to take away from all of the other graphic places on here, just being honest.
