I always use the bowtie cuz my car is black and shows everything. Tonite my husband closed the trunk for whatever reason and used his fingers on the side so I had 3-4 finger prints clearly visible. I tried not to wipe them off just to prove to myself that I am not anal about my girl. It lasted only until we got home. Then the microfiber towel came out to wipe them off.

I can always restick a bowtie if this one ever falls off. I'd rather risk that than unsightly fingerprints.

And YES I am SERIOUS about this!

i am very particular with my cars myself, but if you are being this paranoid then how are you enjoying the car? If you don't want to damage the paint to the car then I would advise you to put it in a garage with a cover over it and put it on stands and never drive it. Not trying to bash you, but just go out and enjoy it.

I enjoy the car by taking care of it and keeping it in perfect condition. You should see my Bonneville in person. 18 years old and still looks new.

And this is what skin can eventually do to paint. Plenty of sweat to blame here though.

That is funny!

I avoid putting pressure on the wing and use one of my stripes.

Good man. I use the keyhole on the driver door myself.

If you're that concerned, just keep a small towl or clean rag under the driver's seat and grab that when you close your trunk.

Bowtie works great, and that is the thing that saved my deck lid from getting more scratched by the rear spoiler. If you have not already had the rear spoiler fixed for the spoiler gaskets and spacers doing so will help not get your deck lid scratched up, especially is you are using the spoiler to close the trunk.

Attached is the TSB for the 2010-2011 spoiler fix. I just did mine and noticed that indeed the spoiler was much closer on the passenger side, and just started to scratch the deck lid. It is an easy fix, as you can buy the kit for about $11 or have the dealer do it for free, but if the deck lid is scratched be prepared to have the car in the shop for a few days so it can be repaired.

I use a microfiber cloth over the bowtie.

DO NOT grab the inside edges of the metal trunk support. They are SHARP!!!

I thought about installing a strap like the one on my old '02 Monte SS had.

1. Leave Trunk open.
2. Open Driver Door.
3. Turn car on.
4. Accelerate hard enough to make it close by itself.

No finger prints....

Disclaimer: I have no tried this myself and I shall not held responsible for any bad things happening from trying it that way. lol

Get a set of these and stick them on to the rear of the deck lid. Now you have a place to put your fingers to close it.
