V6 "LS" Speed Limiter Update

Can anyone confirm that dealers can (not asking if they will), perform an update to the PCM to raise the LS "118" speed limiter to SS spec "157" <?>???

I had stock 18" LS wheels and tires and have just upgraded to a complete new stock set of SS 20" wheels and P-Zero tires.

I've tried one dealer and the service advisor was clueless.

Any help or advice is appreciated. I'm really trying to locate a dealer who can perform this in the Hartford/Cecil County MD., Delaware, Philly or Southern New Jersey areas.

Thanks!
-Mark

my dealer is capable of doing it .As all should be. iam thinking of contacting customer service at GM head quarters to get them to approve it and send the ok to the dealer to perform them change
its not like were asking for something thats never been done. if the car came thru with the Z tires it would have been set for 155
ive upgraded to 186 mph tires so that issue is done

give it a try (call gm) let me know how you make out

You have the trifecta tune. Just ask Vince to do it. He may have already He removed mine.

Edit: Just noticed original post was almost a month ago. You may not of had the tune then.

Yes, I went with Vince's tune and he took care of it. I had another service advisor from another (nameless) dealership that claimed it could not be done and hung the phone up on me after I expressed my "difference of opinion".

BTW - Vince's tune is well worth it. The car has never run stronger.

Thanks!

Why wouldn't the dealership up the speed limiter. Its not as though they are doing anything illegal. The only reason the V-6 RS is at 155 is tire size. If I brought in my LS with new 20" tires I would find it wierd they would question it.

@GTPprix, what is a BCM?

^ bwahhaah good catch, I didnt realize this thread was almost a month old. As far as why wouldnt the dealership? Dealers dont have the ability to change much (if anything) anymore..
