Unhappy Scratch on Windsheild

Hey all!
I have a small scratch near the top of my rear windshield. I have no idea how it got there, but it is relatively deep. It's not bad enough that I would consider replacing the back glass, but I would like to fix it if I can. Any ideas?

Not much you can do... glass is extremely hard stuff and difficult to 'cut' enough to remove scratch damage. Not saying you can't try, but I wouldn't get your hopes up that its going away anytime soon.

Funny thing, I have a dog and a parrot, no cats at my house lol.
It's not a big deal though, unless you are right on top of the scratch, it isn't noticeable.
I just wanted to fix it if there was something I could try.

I agree with Dylan. But you may talk to a watch repair person as they sometimes polish out the watch face????

I have seen some "glass" polishing discs that go on a DA or rotary. I think Griot's sells one from what I remember. I did watch a video once that showed a guy using a rotary to remove some pretty significant scratches in glass. If memory serves there was some risk of causing a distortion when looking through the glass, but if it's not right in front of you it might be worth a try.

Watched a car show last weekend where they clayed the windshield then used a rotary to smooth out small nicks then polished. Looked good but don't know if it would fix a scratch. I think it was Trucks. I need to replace my front windshield. Have a bunch of nicks. Surprised it hasn't cracked yet.

Lake Country and Griots do have kits that repair minor defects in glass. Being that you can feel it with your finger there is no feesable way to get it out.

You can try one of the kits mentioned or get some cerium oxide (diamond fast) and polish it. This will blend/smooth out the scratch but it will always be there.

Caswell Plating has a kit as well.
