Phew!! I thought it was only mine that did that, sounds like it's a problem on most. I'll remember to try pushing back on the seat and pulling straight out. Thanks everyone, and OP for putting this out there!!

If u operate it several times, it will loosen up on its own w/o lube or pushing on the seat back.

I have this happen to me with the passenger seat all the time. Sometimes pulling straight back works- sometimes not. Of course, it has worked every time the dealer has tried it. My daughter has a hard time too- driver's seat side works fine.

Let us know if the silicone spray works....some days I'm willing to try anything.

Never noticed a problem on mine - then again, it's a rare occasion that I need to use it, not often I have a back seat passenger....

Try my technique for passenger side seat release:

1) Standing next to the Camaro, stand facing the opposite direction of the way the car is facing (i.e. not facing into the car)

2) Place right arm behind the seat with your palm facing the lever & grip

3) In a rowing motion, lift the lever

Because of the angle of applied force, this minimizes the work done on the lever

GM if you are listening, please place the release on the shoulder like the beetle (I mean we have the cool switch-blade keys to match anyway lol)

cmore, are you still having a hard time getting your seat back to release? I know of documentation that may pertain to this issue but to be for sure I would suggest speaking with your dealer again. It should help out in this situation if the issue persists. If that doesn't help let me know and I'll do what I can to assist.

Exercising it doesn't help. I've had my car for almost a year and use the release almost daily and it's still very hard to operate on driver and passanger side.

Have u taken it to the dealer for resolution? If so, would contact GM Customer Service and see if they can help if not, would recommend u take it to the dealer.
