So does this just happen on the L99's? I am getting ready to start modding my LS3 and want to order a strong MAF if I need to. I just noticed that the posts were almost all from A6 owners.
Thanks!

I dont see it making as much different from a dead stop on a manual car...the revs are higher or can be higher when you take off. The l99 pretty much takes off from idle. It probably will make a difference at cruise tho.

I'm thinking it's probably more important if you are tuned for max performance...

Here's some good info..

Show me back to back dyno graphs of the same vehicle with a "weak" and "strong" MAF sensor with the tune unchanged...

I'd like to see one also. I wanted to see one before I changed mine but I decided to take the chance and try it. My dealer would have let me send it back for a refund...I buy lots of $$$ worth if parts from him so he takes care of me. Yea I'm strapped for money right now, but I'm here to tell you it made a good enough difference for me to eat ham sandwiches for a week. Believe me or not, but I could tell a different without a doubt. I can now spin the tires from a roll...and before it wouldn't even spin them from a stop. It may not make an assload of difference for you if you don't have a Vararam like I do.

LOL.. I had really hoped my swap would have yielded something... Swapping a strong maf for a strong maf. I can't wait to see my tuner tomorrow and I'll be giving him a lesson on those numbers...

I was definitely a bonus for me! I'm glad I had a crappy sensor....what a cheap mod!

So I got a weird one for ya, I have Vararam, cam, LS3 conversion, tune, and have had the stumbling at cruising speeds for a long time.
Checked the font and arrow on the MAF, and it is the old weak rounded style:

So I ordered one up, $79 shipped from JDP Motorsports.

Pull the old one out, find it is a K19 stamped one. Hmm, thats weird. Weak font/arrow, but strong stamp.
So I install the new one anyways, a K20, strong font/arrow.
So I drive home from work and wow, this is sweet! Didn't get on it from a stand still, but at WOT at highway speeds, it goes, and goes fast!
Best mod to date, well, other than the cam I guess.
But I still have the stumbling, no big deal, I can live with the extra power!

So coming to work this morning, still loving the power, and noticed the CEL turned on.
Go to check it, and found it threw codes for both banks lean. Never had any such codes before.
So I figure maybe the ECM just needs to relearn everything with the new MAF, so I do the 5 and 20 fuse pull for several minutes.
Drive back home from work, and I'm not so certain it has the umph it had yesterday :(
Granted, it was 96 degrees coming home today, (compared to ~88 late last night) so that could very well be the culprit.

But kinda weird about the font/arrow/stamp thing. I thought the strong ones just came out, and weren't in the early 2010's?

Obviously it was different, as it caused the CEL to come on, and there was definitely a SOTP performance increase. (I had no connection problem with the original one).
The CEL hasn't been on again, and I'll have to keep testing to see if the power is there or not.
But I'll definitely have to stop by the tuner again to have him shape it up for the new MAF.
