Numerous issues with my 2011 SS

I recently took my 11 ls3 to the dealer with a laundry list of issues. I will start with the most severe to the rather minor issues. And will explain the out come of each.

1. The notorious 2nd gear grind, dealer replaced blocker ring and synchro. It fixed the grinding gear but now the trans whines.

2. Window making a clicking noise when rolling down, dealer replaced the regulator. It fixed the clicking noise but now the outer weather strip is loose and rattles.

3. Chipped paint under the spoiler, dealer sublet the body work to a shop. The chip was fixed and the revised gasket kit was installed. But there is clear over spray on my quarter panel and trunk lid and some scratches in front of the spoiler.

4. Rear fascia improper fit where the edge meets the quarter panel in the wheel arch, the dealer also sublet this issue out to the body shop. The results are the panel is still sticking out and it looks severely warped toward the seam on the quarter.

5. Rocker panel bowed out making a gap in the panel and the body, again a sublet for the dealer this issue they couldn't fix and it looks like crap. Took it to a different dealer to look at and they stated it was normal fit.

Here is my issue; I know most of the panel fitment issues can be handled by myself with the help of other forum members that have had similar issues. But then what is the purpose of having a bumper to bumper warranty? I feel like whenever I take my car to have repairs done it ends up with more issues.

Am I just expecting to much when it comes to the quality of service? Or have any other members experienced the same type of headache. I'm getting to the point where I don't want to take it to the dealers because I'm skeptical of the quality of work I am getting.

Oh and before I forget they left stains in the carpet right under the clutch pedal.

END OF RANT lol

Sounds like my local GM dealer's service department. In with one problem, out with two.

I don't really think much can be done about the panel/fascia fit issues. That's fairly common today. Plastic bumpers and metal fenders. Two different materials, two different thermal expansion rates. They'll stick out anytime you park in the sun on a hot day.

Well the issues of the panels having poor fitment have been fixed by other forum members. But I think to myself why should I have to repair my new camaro. If I am going to be the one wrenching on my car it will be on my other cars that are out of warranty or modded to the point of no warranty.

Find another dealer with a better service department or contact customer service and file a complaint. Jeff Morris from Chevrolet customer service often reads these posts as well, you may want to PM him for suggestions.
I give the dealer a mulligan sometimes but not with this many issues.
Have you spoken with the service manager about these things?

I have my car at a different dealer right now and all the issues are stated to be normal.

The over spray and scratches will need to be handled by the first dealer I visited.

It may seem like I bombarded them but these were all issues I thought could be addressed.

I realize you shouldn't have to do this, but I'd get a clay bar kit and remove the overspray with it and as long as the scratches aren't deep, I'd use a product like Meguiar's Scratch remover to take them out myself. This way you'll avoid the hassle and risk of taking it back to the dealer for that one item. You need these products anyway if you don't have them in your detail kit.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you've been having with your car getting them repaired. I would also suggest getting in contact with us. Could you send me your contact information so I can get you setup for these issues.

Yeah I was pondering on doing the overspray myself. I have a few clay bars and some compound to make it right. But my main thing is the car didn't go to the dealer in that condition. I know the forum community is about do it yourselfers and spreading the information to others. With that said this is an awesome community of folks with innovative ways of fixing issues of the car we love so much.

This is one of the key elements that makes this site stand above the rest. That you can come here and express your issue and somebody like Jeff is here to listen and try to sort out your problems.

Jeff, I will send you a PM with my information... Thanks a bunch
