Last time my low fuel light came on it took 16 gallons to fill it. so by that logic I have 3 gallons left.

I should have said, it doesnt require fuel to be covering the pump to cool. The fuel going through the pump is what cools it more than the surrounding fuel does. You dont want to run them completely dry of course, but since the car will shut off before that happens it shouldnt be a real problem. (but not something you'd want to do frequently)

true but if you think about the amount 19 gallons then. Its easely to say the top part hold 9.2 gallons and the bottom part holds less...less fuel means burns less quicker smaller the space the less fuel it can hold. So it burns though it fast. I am not talking the burning timeing i am talking how much is there to burn. Sorry for the confusion. And weight yes but if driveing at a content speed cruise control. The amount of lesser fuel would impact more then weight. Because it is burning though the same amount of time. All i know is i tryed this going to E refueling going Half refueling and i went less to the pump at Half then E same car same trip same amount of miles ever thing

So just do like most of us and don't let it below 1/4 tank. safer, better for the fuel pump.
