Just called him again (he was supposed to call me back a while ago)
He's starting to sound like he knows it was his fault. Claims he didn't see the images I sent him yet, but said if it is their fault they'll replace the glass.
I hope he knows it won't be a shop he's acquainted with replacing the glass, it'll be a certified shop who can get OEM glass and does body work on GM.

I have to tell you, I'd really be reluctant to change that glass unless I really had to.

Try and get some scratchx (or barkeepers friend) and see if you can buff it out at all. Then if you can, demand a refund.

Why? If a reputable glass shop or body shop does it, it's just replacing glass. Shouldn't that be pretty easy?

I had a windshield replaced at my office a few years ago. Was just fine.

Just becasue the car is so new, I'd hate to see something else go wrong.

Try what I suggested, maybe that will work.

Wow, sorry that happened to you.

Sadly, nowadays, this is the sort of stuff I expect. If everything goes well for any type of contract work, I'm surprised.

As a former Manager of Pilkington USA In Anchorage Alaska, listen please Matt, as SSGT said earlier if you get some Cerrium Oxide, it can and will buff them out from the outside glass, time and patience will get it out!
Don't start demanding new glass so then they can hack the inside pillars, head liner and who knows what else could possibly get ruined. Start calling glass shops who specialize in scratch removal and take it there and watch while they buff it out. Also make them tape off body where scratches are close to componenets! *PLEASE TAKE THIS APPROACH FIRST MATT*

That sucks! As long as he's willing to make it right I'd lighten up on him. HE probably never uses blades on glass, the dimwit he hired possibly didn't know there was a reason not to.
Years ago I went to drive my mom somewhere in her car in the winter, only to find her entire windshield scratched all to hell. I asked her what happened. She was unable to find the ice scraper so she used a metal spatula. She didn't realize she was scratching the glass until she got inside and turned on the defroster.
She thought only diamonds could scratch glass and was really surprised that the metal spatula scratched it up so badly.

I'll keep this in consideration. I'm not making any moves until I'm advised by experts in glass repair and glass replacement. Weighing the risks of each.

Also- I didn't demand new glass- he brought that up to me. If I got new glass it would only be OEM and only installed by a reputable glass replacement shop, or by a Chevrolet dealerships body shop.

The guy I talked to said he doesn't let his workers cut the film, only he does.
Problem now is he seems to be a little more accepting of it being their fault- but he's not calling me back like he's saying he will.

With all the bad luck you are having, I can see you blowing up soon like Clark W. Griswold in Christmas Vacation when his bonus turned out to be a membership in the jelly of the month club.

Dude you have no idea. Through this whole process, I've punched my desk, slammed my door at work, and worst part was when I threw my 70 dollar magic mouse and it shattered into pieces.

I definitely have a temper. Starting to calm down. I guess the extra dose of xanax I took is helping.

Someone wielded that blade... if he says none of his workers did, then it's on him by default. Quite a large fail on his part. I'm sure he's gonna be doing a lot of this at his crew today.
Give him a little time to gather his wits, and put a call in to your brother in law anyway. Sorry your day is ruined by finding your new car all fubar, hope it doesn't take them long to take care of you.
it's all permagrin until someone messes the Camaro up.

Update from the tinter- he's acknowledged it was their fault, and is willing to replace the glass. He said replaced through a Chevrolet dealership near him, but he said he's want me to drop the car off with him and he'd take it. Ehhhh, no...

This will be the place I choose, and I will take it in and have the bill sent to the tinter.

I'm not going to disclose the name of the tinting company, because I believe they should have the chance to make it right, and it's working toward that direction now.

I told him I'd like to consult with some glass experts to see if it's possible to get the scratches out before considering pulling the glass and breaking the original seals. But worst case scenario he said he'll agree to pay for the glass to be replaced with OEM GM parts by a Chevrolet dealership.

To make this more in stone- I'm communicating with him on my work phone which has a recording feature. I record all important calls.
