Wax & Vinyl Stripes
So I am going to wax my car for the first time tonight since I've owned it and have heard time and time again not to get it close to the Vinyl Stripes. If you get some on and wipe it off is that good or do you not need to get wax close to the vinyl stripes?

If you have the factory flat black, try to avoid them as much as possible. Mine are the factory gloss black, and they aren't so bad to clean the wax off of. I normally just use detail spray on the stripes.

I wax mine every time. They're after market flat black and end up with a slight shine that's only visible up close.

Stay away from the stripe edges. Two problems if you do. On the flat black stripes, wax can muck them up. On all stripes, rubbing wax against the edges can cause problems with the edges lifting.
The only thing stripes need is to be washed with car wash soap. I keep wax at least an inch or so back to avoid rubbing the edge. |

Thanks so much for the advice, I do have some TurtleWax Ice detail "wax" that is safe for the vinyl stripes and I'll use that. I will use my Mequiars wax for the rest of my car.

I use Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 and my stripes look great. There isn't any white residue and I can wax everything. It also helps repel dust!

If they're gloss you can wax them, no problems.
If they're matte then no... don't get any wax on them. Mask them off with painters tape if you need to wax close to them. |

So has anyone used wax on the Dinoc Carbon fiber wrap?? Planning on replacing my stripes with the hexis material (Same as Dinoc, but better for auto use) soon and wanted to know how it turns out or if you need to keep away from them with wax.
