So, with a 2SS convertible base price of $39,650 a car spec'ed out exactly like mine would cost $6,390 more (minus the discount I got) out the door.

I don't know how cheap you think the ZL1 is going to be, but I'm guessing mid to low 50s base price. Let's say $52,500 base price. After it being optioned out how I would like and TT&L, it is completly reasonable that the price will go up about $7k, putting it a hair under $60k out the door. I have never cared what base price of a car is unless you can actually drive it off the showroom floor with just paying that and nothing else.

There aren't going to be that many options to add on the ZL1. Wheels, stripes, steering wheel. about covers it

How much are the optional wheels, stripes, steering wheel? Are they not offering an optional automatic (sorry, I thought they were and it was going to be expensive to handle 580hp). Is the sunroof a free option? Are they not going to charge extra for certain colors like they do with all other Camaros? There also has to be a destination charge. Do we know if there is going to be a gas guzzler fee/tax?

Hello!!! If you can afford a 60k sportscar, you can also afford a daily driver.
This is the WRONG car for a daily driver. Don't get me wrong..I'll be driving mine, but not to work to park in a gravel parking lot and collect door dings, thats just retarded. No I'll take it out regularly to stretch its legs whenever I can. This car is like fine wine, not cheap beer.
No I'm sorry an Audi R8 is like fine wine, the ZL1 (Which I love and will try to get) is like Expensive Beer. A Bugatti Veyron is wrong for a Daily Driver, if this wasn't intended to be driven as a daily driver that is track capable they wouldn't have given it adjustable suspension.....

I'm sorry that assumption that people can automatically afford a daily driver if they can afford a 60K sports car is just ignorant

No idea on price...but optional equipment thus far have been identified as: polished wheels, stripes, carbon fiber hood insert, suede steering wheel/shifter, automatic transmission, and I'm sure a few of the color will be extra cost.

No word on GG tax, yet...still hoping they can avoid it on at least the manual.

I'd say the ZL1 is more like a smooth scotch....but I second your point.

I'll agree with the fact that you shouldn't be buying a 60K car, if you can't afford a daily driver as well, but only in the case that someone isn't driving this year round. There will be people that will but I'll agree that the majority of people won't drive it in Snow, then there are the mentally deranged that think rain will melt this car.....

And what many people fail to realize is that many folks, like me, will never see snow and will most likely see no more than a week or so of ice. A lack of winter affects the availability of using this car as a DD

TOO NICE TO KEEP PARKED & TOO NICE TO DRIVE EVERYWHERE
So true. DD (Daily Driver) = DD (Door Dings) no matter how careful I was.

Tried to keep my new '95 Mercedes C-Class pristine as a daily driver. That lasted about three weeks. What was I thinking.

HAHAHA...no. Please be more respectful. Many people in this price range stretch to their limits to afford the vehicle. It's the primary reason Corvette sales dropped so rapidly in '08-'09.

"real" is a manner of perspective, and it would serve us all well to try and see all sides.

Its harder for me to replace my dd than it has been to get a premium vehicle. With a dd I have to avoid getting into debt, otherwise it will spoil my opportunity in getting that "good car" every several years or so.

My current dd is badly in need of a replacement, and even now I have to stretch the soup so that I can be ready for a ZL1.

It will be my DD as long as there is not more than 2" on the ground. I learned to drive in the snow before front wheel drive was even thought of by anyone but Subaru, but as Clint says "...a man's got to know his limitations". My wife's Cruze will be used for real winter weather. It was 31 degrees here this morning; I would have already mounted my winter tires by now if my ZL1 was parked in my garage. I drive from a garage to a garage, so door dings are not an issue. But there is no sense in taking unnecessary chances.

It's got absoutely nothing to do with what I can afford. There will simply be no need for me to buy a "daily driver" because the ZL1 will be that very car.

At the end of the day, as great as the ZL1 will be, it's not and never will be a Supercar that needs to be kept for the weekend only.

It's got a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty for a reason.

Still, if you want to spend $60k on a car just so you can sit and look at it in your garage then that is your prerogative.

Just like it will be my prerogative to drive my ZL1 every single day come rain or shine
