Ditto....

I don't remember how long ago it was, but there was another thread where a V-6 had a nice run and a couple of SS knuckleheads were trash talking the times... and calling lil brother out... So, I called them out.... and they said I was modified so it wasn't fair... to which I reminded them of their 2 extra cylinders so that wasn't fair either... They didn't get it then and probably still don't... oh well...

Stats are stats.... It is what it is. Had he won I wonder if we would be saying - of course he won he had a built V8... Just sayin.
It was probably a ole 305 with 200k miles on it. If your not up to speed on engines, I'll break it down to you. The engine you are referring to is 60+ year old technology. That engine does not even begin to compare to the technology in your engine. Hardly anything to brag about in my opinion. I'm not trying to beat up on you, I just think your comparing apples to oranges. The heads literally suck in stock form on a small block Chevy. The heads on your engine....waaay better. A cam does not pick up that much in a stock headed sbc, heads are the biggest thing. Not headers, heads. And not to mention those engines are a lot lower compression. Nowadays, 2 less cylinders makes more power than v8's did of years ago.

On a side note, I looked up specs on caprices. They came with a tire scorching 105hp v8 in the eighties. Wow. Lol. In the nineties and later the power increased to 205hp. Even the lt1 versions still had less power than your v6, they had 260hp. But anyway....13.8 isn't to shabby for a v6 camaro by any means. I just thought you bragging about beating that hooptie was pretty silly.

If you're not up on racing...let me break it down for you. The Camaro ran a 13.7 and barely beat the Caprice...so the Caprice probably ran around a 14.0 ish et. It would NEVER have done that with a 105hp V8 or even a 205hp V8.

A stock headed old school V8 would absolutely pick up good hp from a CAM swap....a simple set of 4bbl truck heads could be pushed to around 400hp without much effort. Clearly you aren't up on old school small blocks either.

Why are you working so hard to be a dick to this guy? He beat a V8...he's happy about it....end of story......at least it should be.

Not really .

Broken down to it's final sum, we have a modded V6 Camaro (best bone stock V6 time is 14.37@96.6 by DarkneSS) barely beating an older modded Caprice (no stock Caprice like that would have run that fast).

That's pretty much it.

It's clear that if Xanthos wasn't modded, he would have lost. And if the Caprice wasn't modded, he would have lost.

So the reality of the situation is ... kudos is due to BOTH cars.

This is like me bragging about the civic si I beat the other day at the light that was revving on me. Should I start a thread about that? Pointless. Btw op, like I said before, nice time slip.

in a perfect world this thread would be about an everyday Camaro that beat a purpose built race car. I thougth it was cool that the camaro just happened to be a V6 against a V8.
