LS3 Factory Tune 87 vs 92 Octane-How Much HP do you lose?

I am sure someone knows the answer to this. If you run 87 octance in your LS3 your knock sensor will kick in thus retarding your timing.

Does anyone know the RWHP on a stock LS3 running 87 Octane?

Does anyone know the RWHP on a stock LS3 running 92 Octane?

What is the diffrence in RWHP on a stock LS3?

I am real curious as to how much RWHP you do loose using 87 Octane.

With a 20 cent different between 87 and 93, that's only a $3.80 difference for the 19 gallon tank.

If you want to run 87, trade me cars!

I get 89 now. I am in a rual area and it is hard to get 92. So sometimes I might run 89 with 10% ethanol in it.

It's not the cost or the fuel. I would think that most people who bought a 39k car can afford the fuel. I would hope anyway. It's where I live I am in BFE! BFE has some BAD A## TWISTIES. LOL!

I allways use 93... I got some bad 93 one time and could not run faster then a 13.0 and lost like 3mph, I was wondering why my car was so slow that day, put a few gals of 100 in it and did a fues pull and went 12.60s! Nothing changed but the gas, if you are forced to use 89 I would get a 89 tune for it... your loosing allot of power and the computer is not going to reset without a fuse pull now.

16 gallons....on E you on average put 16 gallons back in the car. That is what I have noticed. So the cost difference is a little bit less.

Why would you want to run 87 . The price difference is not worth the loss in power or the fuel gauge sensor problems you will eventually have.

The original question is loss of hp....the ss is not designed to run 87...I dont know numbers but my dealership put 87 in it when I bought it and it ran like crap, rough idle and no ass to it. I put in 93 and did a fuse pull (twice to be safe) and it was like a whole new car.

Those numbers would seem to be right and I agree with you about the tune.

Seems to me I have heard you lose about 10hp per octane point so you are looking at about 60hp loss between 87 and 93 if my number is correct.
