Swirls from pc how?
So i polished my whole car for 3rd time in two years. This time i noticed in the sun i have some actual swirls in my paint onthe door. You have to look at it just right to see it. How did it happen and what can i do to fix it and prevent from happening again?!

It is near impossible to put swirls in your paint with the PC...but I will tell you also that you need REAL GOOD lighting if you're polishing in your garage. You have to be able to inspect the paint from every angle imaginable if you're looking for a perfect job.
Go the the Adams website and watch their videos. They have some great tutorials. Junkman as well. His are VERY indepth! And there is comedy in them too. |

Are you sure they're swirls from the PC or were they something there already that maybe you didn't spend enough time on?
Any pictures of the problem? |

Yes up down side side per videos all adams and correct product with correct pad i am a little concerned about pad build up some times its smooth and some times honey comb. I dont clean pad after use as i detail a little each day and dont want to wait for it to dry!

So many people totally dismiss the one opportunity that creates the most amount of damage to their paint. That would be when you're touching it: washing and dust removal. Those are the two most effective opportunities for swirls and scratches to end up in you paint. So the question is, how are you washing the car? If you also remove dust from the car, how are you doing that? These two things along is when most of your paint damage will happen.
One thing to also remember. Washing your car properly while using crappy towels and mitts is the same thing as washing the car improperly.

If you're going to break the detail up its a better plan to get a second set of pads. That way when one set is drying the other is ready to go. Won't matter one bit how good your technique is - if the pads are caked up with days worth of dry polish you'll simply be wasting time working on the car. |

I foam gun wash twice rinse and dry withbblower i dont even use a mitt anymore except before a show or something i just get my car dusty not really dirty so every 2 drives i just foam rinse and blow dry.
So what causes the build up on pad not washing or to much product? How many panels can i do before i need to wash? Meaning if i used the pad to do the whole car in a day should i stop halfway and wash?

Most commonly too much product, but I gotta think the fact you're leaving them to sit with product in them for a day the polish is drying out which is clogging the pad up to some degree as well.

Could that also cause small scratches?

Indirectly yes... obviously without seeing exactly what you're dealing with a lot of this is speculation, but if your pad is overly clogged with polish it cannot break the products down properly. Partially worked polishes can sometimes leave the paint looking dull and marred up.
Also consider that there may be bits of dried polish caked in the pad that are acting as something more abrasive than they originally were. Think of the crusty bits of product that you get around the lid of the bottle after a few uses... you can probably imagine if you were to scrape those off and rub them into your paint they'd scratch things up. Not much different than rubbing the dried out polish in your pads into the paint. |
