I'm going through about $500 a month between three cars. A 4, 6 and a 8 and both the 4 & 8 both require premium and the 6 regular.

This. I'm averaging between 23 and 28 in my LLT. People who want an SS so badly need to understand the cost of ownership that comes with it, instead of just being like "WGAS"... it does add up

Wow! I think you all just convinced me to keep my 2lt or even jump ship. Lol

On my 2012, I have 3k miles, gas up every 8 days for $45 (never quite empty) and get 23 mpg. Live 11 miles from work, almost all highway.

I get jealous when my friends say they can drive from albuquerque, nm to las Vegas with 1 stop. Guess it puts things in perspective.

I have three V8s, and my camaro gets about 4.5 mpg better than I was getting with the charger R/T, same type driving. If your BF is getting 17 in a charger he must do a lot of highway, I was seeing more like 11.7. My truck and van are even worse than that, probably around 9-10 mpg.

I admittedly have a very fuel mileage friendly commute. I live in a fairly rural area and work at night, so I rarely hit traffic or red lights when I commute into the city. (I can get around 37-38 out of my 3.4L Alero driving the same route in the summer), and only drive the good car in the summer, so it never sees winter blend fuel, or cold temperatures. I also know where all the no ethanol gas stations are in my area. Pure gas is worth about 2-3 mpg in my experience.

Still, I was pleasantly surprised by how efficient a modern V-8 can be. When it breaks in a little more, I think it will reach 30.
