Now, if we were going to be meeting up at a road course......I would actually pick the ZL1 as my weapon. Yep, I know weight is a mother on a road course. I get it. But, from what I've been following, the ZL1 seems to be the better overall effort. GM has really spent the time, money, and effort to make sure no stone is left unturned in the ZL1. I feel it will be the better "sorted" car on a road course. Then, the magnetic ride system on the Camaro ZL1 will be a huge advantage. I know Ford is hawking an "Electronic system" of shocks, but until I know more, I have a hard time believing it is as sophisticated as the system from GM. GM has had generations to perfect its setup. The Camaro ZL1 also has IRS which is a bigger deal on a road course than you can imagine.

As for looks.....Subjective. Personally, I LOVE the look of the GT500s. The ZL1 is a brutish beauty too, but personally I like the GT500 better. Also, sit in a GT500 and I like the interior a lot better than the Camaros. The GT500 interior does not photo well. Go sit in one. Overall, two incredible cars but one of them makes 650hp. Oh, and no, it won't touch a ZR1.....and good luck finding a Mustang forum that is not overrun with the same pathetic wankers that talk crap on YouTube comments all day.

Im still in shock that you can go down to your local Chevy and Ford dealership and buy bone stock pony cars that make this much horsepower. Anyone else remember the 225hp IROC? I do. Man.....have times changed.
i think what you will find out is that the zl will be facing the boss302 more than the shelby at the road course tracks.not saying shelby will be staying away .it be interesting to see if heat soak comes into play at the track.

you don't have to tell me twice. To me camaro wins. More people agree with that, because camaro trumps ford in sales.
just remember what happened in 2002 .gm sales were down and the camaro disappeared. it all for the pickup truck. ford does not sell the MOST cars ,they sell cars

It always comes into play with supercharged cars no matter how much effort has been put into the cooling system. Just something that goes along with forced induction.

As the owner of a 2009 GT500 with a 2.9L Whipple (725 hp) kit, I couldn't agree more with the above. I was really hoping for a minimum of a 315 out back. Note Ford's press releases don't say boo about width - just wheel diameter. Ford has so far shown only one of two (mentioned) wheels for the '13 model year. The slightly revised '11-'12 PP wheel looks to be the same 9.5" wheel width Ford has used since '07.

For the money Ford charges for the Boss/GT500, I'd have thought that a minor floorpan tweak to allow more wheel could have made the cut for the last two years of the S197 chassis. Apparently, Ford chose to continue paying Shelby a royalty fee instead of spending those monies on even greater performance. As excited as I am about this latest iteration, I can't help but feel let down in the contact patch department.

Question is how will the 2013 GT500 stack up against the 2013 ZL1. Oh wait you can't because the specs for the 2013 ZL1 aren't out yet.

Imagine an LS9 option at say 10k on the 2013 ZL1. With the combo that the ZL1 already is, that would be an amazing package.

Because the mods like it this way.

Most of the Mustang guys are not allowed to post or even look in this ZL1 section. The mods actually pulled all the 2013 GT500 threads from VS and Genral and moved them here to protect them from the Mustang members stirring the pot.

I don't think ZL1's quarter mile time should begin with a 12.

That is all.

bottom line, ZL1 and GT500 are both great cars,; we just enjoy a little rivalry to keep it fun and entertaining as GUYS

You guys have obviously never heard of standing mile competitions. That's were all the big boys play.

And getting 650 HP from the ZL1 would be pretty easy. Pulley and tune.
Then you would lose the factory warranty everyone is gloating about.

You would think that if they were so much better than Chevy's, they would have released them yesterday with the rest. But no, they knew there 200 mph, 650 hp would steal Chevy's thunder. I don't think any of there numbers are going to be much better, if any better than Chevy's and that's why they were not released. The real test will be when these two beasts are released but would still like to know Ford's numbers.
How long did it take GM to release the ZL1 pricing after announcing the car will be produced?

I don't see why they CAN'T do this, especially since the zr1 will likely get a power boost in 2013. However, I don't think they will. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

ZL1 is our loving new child in the family. Let's be nice shall we? She already beats fords child in looks by a long shot. She WILL sound better too! Better suspension, hood, and wheels!. Not to mention better color options. Did I mention it is also a GM child?

In post #758 I posted a link to edmunds inside line that says the 2013 GT500 still will have 285s in the back. So this revised taller gearing may not be enough, and launch control doesn't work when you are rolling already and doing redline shifts.
