"So does anyone know, can this be attributed to low paint quality? Or do I have to file a claim and watch my insurance rates go up?"

It does seem that some of us have thin paint and get chips and damage alot more than others. I have asked the question before. At what thickness is the factory paint supposed to be at? If the paint on certain cars is thinner than the factory specs say that it should be, then GM would have to correct your factory paint job. As for the egg damage, file a claim and be done with it. But the possible root problem with the paint will still remain. Sorry about your misfortune, wish you luck.

IF your rates go up for something that you're not the cause of you need a lawyer and a new insurance company. It's illegal for them to raise your rates unless you're at fault.

I was one of four in our neighborhood. I wasn't targeted by enemies, I was just 1 of several. I'm calling it in later tonight or tomorrow morning.

This just frustrates me beyond belief. An old car got egged back in early 90's and I don't remember it doing more than mild scratches I buffed out by hand. Didn't even call the insurance on it. Of course that was back in the oil-based paint days when the paint was about half and inch thick.

Hey, Kick, like the pic!

Sorry to hear , my friend had the same type of egg damage on his Challenger .

He went to pick his girlfriend up from he condo and someone must have threw a whole case of eggs from there balcony .
Hit a handful of cars in the guest parking lot , his Challenger got hit twice once on the hood and another on the windshield . The hood was had same type of damage yours had and the windshield had litttle fine scratches .

My friend only had his car like two or three days before this happend
