Camaro tuner in Tampa

You'll have to pull the tunes seperately off the PCM and store it on the handheld system. You cant load directly from HPT/EFI to the handheld units.

So let me guess at this if you will...Im not getting a full answer I feel, so I'm just speculating...
I can load a tune in my ECM. Then plug in an sct and store it. Then what tune goes into my ECM? So Im thinking it swaps tunes out with mine in the ECM and then one already on the unit? Then I can load my second tune and then repeat the process to store it? Am I right? How do mail order tuners put there time onto a sct tuner?

You should just be able to read your tune with the handheld, and it store it on there as the "stock" file. The handheld will not auto load a program to your modules.

I've never used EFI Live, so it would be unfair of me to vote. I've never had any problems using HPT though. Great support and a great forum with plenty of very experienced and intelligent users who participate.
You definitely don't need both though. Nor do I see the value in having a handheld and either tuning suite. I guess if you already had the handheld maybe, otherwise doesn't make much sense when you can buy 10-11" monitor laptop for a few hundred bucks.

A couple more things I would ask are:
Will I be using this with other brands cars?
Was either SW developed around the LS engine?

Both were generated around ls engines. I think HP offers minimal support in a couple different brands. Efilive is big into diesels as well.

EFI LIVE!!!

A few years ago I asked about being able to alter WOT% with HP Tuners (which I had) so I could adjust my car for Index Racing..

I was told HP Tuners didn't offer it, and was ridiculed for wanting to slow my car down on their forum.. After begging & pleading continually they eventually said they would look into it, but they told me they felt they were repsonsible for what guys do to their cars, and didn't want tons of guys ruining their engines & blaming it on HP Tuners, so what HP Tuners does is LIMIT & RESTRICT the amount of tables & parameters you can tune with. Thats right, they actually WITHOLD tables that one may want to ajust!

That's ridiculous... So I bought EFI Live, and guess what, I WON the 11.50 Index Track Championship at Englishtown in 2 series in 2010, and repeated it in 2011!

Here are the facts>>> essentially,
EFI Live gives you the keys to the castle, and you can open ANY door you choose

HP Tuners gives you the keys to the castle, but you can only open the doors THEY "allow" you to see.

Interesting considering HPT has access to more tables than EFI Live. An EFI Live user even admitted as such in this thread.

I'll only be tuning gm vehicles. First I'll start with my 2000 silverado. I want to get used to it first. If I mess something up in the Trans, I rebuild them anyway. It's a lot cheaper to fix the truck than the car. Then I'll move on to the car. Then I'll be using this to compliment my 4l60e builds that I do to enhance them even farther.

I'm glad that efi live worked out for you. However, that functionality I think will never be used by me. It looks like both over the same things although a couple things make it just ever so slightly different enough. I'm leaning more toward HPT do far. I was wanting to run down the road and just pick it up and get efi live....because it was faster and I was being impatient. But I've waited this long, no need to hurry. I like that HPT has awesome customer service. Efi live still never responded to my questions that I sent last week. Maybe they don't need my business? My hat is off to HPT so far, every time I've emailed, I've had a prompt reply. Customer service is a huge factor to me.

One of the biggest benefits to EFI Live is their ability to modify the Virtual VE tables within the program. I can't tell you how many jacked up tunes I've had to fix on cammed Camaros and Corvettes because the previous tuners did a MAF-only tune and turned off the VVE tables. The cars would sputter and spit in the 2000-3000 rpm range and their cold start open loop behavior was atrocious. Any tuner worth his salt will modify the VVE tables with the MAF turned off and get them perfect, then turn off the VVE tables and get the MAF perfect. Once both are perfect, they can both be turned on. With HP Tuners, you do not have the ability to modify the VVE tables within the program which is why 95% of the cammed tunes I see performed by calibrators using HP Tuners are only done halfway.

INCORRECT INFO THERE BRO...
He is WRONG!
EFI Live gives you access to EVERY table in the PCM

HP Tuners is the one where tables are hidden, locked, and even on available tables have pre determined set limits..

Concerning customer service, both have active online forums.
However for FRIENDLY help, where people will actually ANSWER your questions, the EFI Live forum is where its at.

When I was on the HP Tuners forum, all I got, every time I made a post was "use the search" or "why should we help you, when we did all the legwork"?

Buy HP Tuners if you like, but sooner or later you'll want to adjust something & find the table is not there.... Then like me, you'll get EFI Live and never look back..

Just relating personal experience..
