how much added weight to you estimate the dynomatt will add? I have subs coming, I do hear some rattling with the stock speakers, at first I thought it was the speakers themselves distorting, maybe it is something else.

Well worth the time it took...
that's how it is with my other car. all the bass stays in the car instead of reverberating through the panels of the trunk.

not sure how much weight it would be but i wouldn't be too worried about it. i plan on doing my entire trunk including rear deck and trunk lid and at least my doors.

once you put dynamat on it's pretty much on there for good unless you attack it with a blowtorch and a scraper because it's basically tacky rubber with an aluminum backing. you wouldn't need to take it off if you sold the car because only you would know it would be there since you can just cover it back up with all the fabric/plastic panels. even if it was exposed, it wouldn't be a bad thing to have in the car. i doubt anyone would complain about the car having it.

Please let us know if your dynomat in the trunk really helps because I'm leaning towards that also.
Dynomat is the way to go. I had the same problem and I ended up using dynomat where I was starting to hear rattling. I did behind both door panels, the whole trunk, I put a piece behind the licence plate and it sounds 100% better. The dynomat is kind of pricey but Worth it.. Good luck

I had the same problem when I put the two 10's in the trunk. Ended up being the vents behind the rear wheel well panels in the trunk that rattled and the trunk lid vibrated a bit near the rear window. I took the vents out and covered the holes with dynamat but made sure there was a small slit in between the pieces of dynamat for venting. I put weather stripping along the edge of the trunk lid near the rear window. Didn't have to dynamat the whole trunk and all rattles stopped...both inside and out. Added dynamat around the rear deck speakers as a precaution too.

Can you show me a pic of where the vents are?

Try this. A tip, when doing this. Grab the magnet from within trunk and pull down. Then put screw in. Continue like this four all screws. Now I have a slight rattle somewhere else! http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=184723

I'll see if I can post pics but it's easy to find. Inside the trunk take off the rear plastic panel. On either side, pull back the molded carpet that covers the sidewalls. If you have the premium BA system then on the left side right as you start pulling away the molded carpet you'll see the sorry excuse of an amp that's bolted in. You don't pull the carpet that far away from the sidewall and you'll see the plastic vents with thin flaps that slap against the plastic vent housing. It helps to have bass heavy music playing so you can see/hear what happens when the flaps move back and forth. There are tabs that you push down on from the top of the vent housing and then push out. There are two tabs on bottom too that you'll need to push up on and push the whole vent box out. After that, just dynamat and re attach the carpet/rear panel.

If you guys want a way cheaper alternative to Dynamat, use Rattle Trap or Second Skin. Theyre both thicker than Dynamat Xtreme and much nicer on the wallet. We use Rattle Trap alot here in our shop and it works fantastic. When you do the trunk definitely attack the back deck. It produces a ton of rattle. And if its all done right you wont even notice its in there for those of you worried about resale later. Its all hidden behind either carpet or panels. The only place you can see it is if you do the bottom of your trunk by the batter, you can see that when you lift the cover of course. Another thing to remember is if possible, start buying boxes that are ported through the rear deck. #1 you get the bass into the actual cabin of the car and #2 a majority of your trunk rattle is taken care of right there.

Dynamat sure hurts the wallet. Have you guys ever heard of fatmat? I talked to a buddy who used it and said it was so much cheaper and thicker than dynamat

Fatmat and Rattle Trap are owned by the same company. Fatmat is 50mils thick and Rattle trap is 80mils thick. Its only about a $20-$30 difference between the two in the 100sqft bulk pack. A Bulk Pack of Rattle Trap runs about $160 shipped and thats plenty to do every required area in your car.
