ONR is pretty awesome stuff I will say. I still prefer the two-bucket wash unless I absolutely can't do it, but that's just personal preference.

Luckily, my new apartment has a car washing bay on premises, so I can do the whole deal down there now.

It's my understanding that foaming, in general, is meant to provide added LUBRICATION more so than offering any sort of cleaning effect. The car wash soap isn't like a degreaser that's breaking up dirt, it's just sitting there.

With that in mind, you can accomplish the same thing by just dunking your clean mitt in several times and squeezing it out over the panels of the car. I generally squeeze out 3-4 full mitts over the top of the car before the mitt ever touches it.

If you really want to get crazy, just make up a second bucket of fresh soapy water and pour/throw it over the car before you start washing with your mitt (3 bucket method?). Your car doesn't know that the soapy water wasn't gently sprayed over it by a foaming gun.
I like what obssesed has to say

makes me wonder if there is a pump action device that is sold or that i could make

I am in the same situatio, living in a high rise condo. I got Adams Waterless wash kit, still a little scared to use it on my car. I do use it on my Harley, I just completly soak it with the waterless wash kit. I go to a self service bay with my bucket and other car wash stuff. Do one high pressure rinse, then presoak. After presoak I bucket wash, then hi pressure rinse, spray adams quick detalier all over her and then dry. A PIA but gets it done looking good, costs $4.

self service bays or waterless wash. I also lived in a condo before I got married and no access to the hose (it was in the back of the building...proving useless for me and my neighbors did not like me stretching 300 feet of hose out) so I opted to take a couple of 5 gallon buckets of water down a few times to clean up my evo back then.

For light cleaning a waterless or rinseless wash will work, but if your car sees more substantial grime (assuming it does since you're in NY) I'd have to side with the guys who suggested taking a couple buckets to the local coin op.

You'll have salt and road grime to deal with that will simply be too much for a waterless washing product to knock out safely and you'll want to also be able to blast those things from the underside of the car, rocker panels, fender linings, etc with some kind of pressurized water (from a hose or a pressure washer). The less you touch the car while its really filthy and the more of the contamination you can remove before you take any towel or mitt to it the lower your chances of introducing swirls or other damage.

You might find this helpful if you decide to go the coin op route:

honestly i use ONR for every wash, every time. doesn't matter if it's light dust or heavy, heavy grime. there are so many polymers in the product that the liftoff of dirt does nothing abrasive to your paint. if you are marring using ONR, your method sucks, plain and simple. i can't vouch for other rinseless products however.

In snowy cold areas I just don't see standing outside scrubbing chunks of dirt, salt and Ice one pannel at a time off your car. Conversely I can't see using any sort of waterless wash; spray bottle or bucket. The best I'll do with my dd in the winter is to run it through a touch less wash every other week in the winter in hopes of keeping the big chunks off and the salt from ruining the clear.

The summer is a different story for the dd and the Camaro's never see salt or snow.

Heres what I'm talking about:

This is pretty much what all of our cars look like in the winter up here.

Waterless washes are designed for freshly waxed cars with only a light dusting on them as they are basically spray lubricants. So be careful if you use them on a truly dirty car.

That being said, in an apt complex I live and die by Adams Waterless Wash.

Why does that car have a Georgia place in the rear and Nebraska up front?!
