I can only say that I installed my Vararam and was very pleased with it and believed I could feel a difference. One day, after having it installed for several months and with nothing else to do, I took the Vararam off and reinstalled my K&N Typhoon CAI just for kicks. It became pretty obvious that the Vararam gave much more performance. Vararam tells you to drive your car for 50 miles to allow the computer to "learn" the increased airflow. So, if you get one, don't expect immediate kick in the pants performance increase. Gradually, the engine becomes "educated" and the power improvement is obvious. There were dyno results on a Corvette forum that showed the Vararam increasing power by 40 or 45 HP...it's somewhere on our C5 forum if you can find it. I have my Vararam back on and won't use any other until I can afford a SUPERCHARGER!!!

I have had both and I ended up with the Rotofab because I felt the fit and finish was much better. The intake also sounds much better when pressing down the throttle. The Vararam performed great but the system just had flaws. Also if you look at the pictures, I like the look of the Roto-fab much better.

now hear I was thinking just the opposite. The VaraRam cleans up the engine bay. Where the Roto-fab throws more red in your face..

Sometimes less is more.. and in this case .. Less is more HP.. can't wait for the 2012 version to get on the market..

If you want more flash have the VR painted..

just sayin'

Love my Vararam. Install was a little of a pain (instructions included were for the older style) but my butt dyno difinately feels the difference.

The Roto-Fab is more in the engine bay/drivers side so I can see where there may be a bit more sound than the VR where the opening is in front of the radiator and behind the grille. But after running the CAI, Halltech Yellowjacket, hybrid of Roto-Fab-Yellowjacket -ADM,and VaraRam, I don't hear a big enough difference between any of them to be worth mentioning.

1. Get the tune model if you are going to mod and tune anyway. Just wait to install it until you are ready to get it tuned. If you won't be tuning right away, then hold off on getting the intake. No point in buying the no-tune model if you are going to mod and tune anyhow - might as well get the added gains with the tune model.

2. Try to call them between 10am-3pm M-F (Central time zone). Best chance of catching someone near the phone.

3. Double check with them on the fitment for a 2012 Camaro. I seem to remember them mentioning something last time I was there that the radiator cap moved slightly in the 2012's and they needed to make an adjustment in the design/castings to accommodate it.
Uh oh, stock 2012 SS radiator means no Vararam, Aftermarket larger volume radiator means Vararam on 2012. I think you will need to upgrade to an aftermarket radiator with the cap in the same position as the prior years.

Dyno Vararam hp is not what you will actually get when your car is in motion, it is even more hp when the force going in increases,(RAM AIR), may the force be with you my friend .

More intake turbulence with the Rotofab, the vararam is like butter just like a MERC.

TUNE VS NO-TUNE, no tune is is you plan on no more than say 435 whp, tune is of you want cam, heads and anything else that would put you at more than that or even 500whp.

I just have a theory on the sound of CAIs. The K&N Typhoon I had on my Camaro sounded like a race engine with the sound of the intake. I think that's because it makes the noise when it had to turn two 90 degree turns to get to the throttlebody. The Vararam doesn't make any sound that I can tell, but I'm absolutely certain the performance is improved with the Vararam....we all love her, even if she is ugly...paint it red!....lol.
