I don't think it's possible to upgrade from a LT to an SS without losing $5000 minimum in the trade/sell of the LT and purchase of an equivalent year (same miles) SS. I suspect it would be even more than that to purchase a new SS.

When I say $5,000, I'm not talking about the price difference, I'm talking about the money that you'll lose (profit for the dealership on the back end of both deals plus tax). That's too big a pill for me to swallow but if someone has the extra cash then I say go for it. The only thing is, I'm assuming most people who bought an LT to begin with probably don't have $5K to flush down the toilet.

If you find a way to do it for less, let me know and I might consider it too

The most expensive year of ownership of a new car is the first one. You lose $3,000 just driving it off the dealer lot.
Hopefully the OP did not agree to buy the "eastcoast" SS yet. IIWY, sell the LT first, then do the upgrade.

You're gonna have to make sure it is Cal emissions standard. You may be looking at some Cal taxes too, unless you keep it register in the state you bought it from.

So you don't have a factory sunroof? That could be a trade in value issue.

AFAIK, all Camaros are 50-state legal.

If it is smog legal, you can bring it into Ca.

I'm about to do it for about a 3 grand loss....you can't count taxes because they will always be a factor. I dropped 2 grand on mods my first few months so it's not that crazy.....and now only one of my mods won't work on a ss so I'm not in bad shape at all.

C5'ers, you think it'd be better trading a 2LT with a nice pair of 22's or stock LS wheels? I sold the oem's to obtain the 22's.

If I were buying a used car, I probably would want close to stock, so I could personalize/mod as I want...a blank canvas, so to speak...hard to tell about mods...my guess is dealers may not be too enthused, but private party might like what you have...dunno

Yeah, if I could find somebody to buy my car, I'd give them both sets. Guess I'll suck it up and carry over a grand to the next car.
