It's true that mine didn't have any problems (and it's been to two track days so far - see avatar pic). But I'll also say that I posted this to a Mustang forum thread a few months ago, and there were a lot of replies from other folks with NO issues.

My point is that consumers shouldn't fear first year models any more because quality is much better throughout the auto industry than it ever was.

What he said .......... even though this thread surely came close to our records for the quickest building thread (or not) lol........ it can surely quiet down a bit. I will happily take delivery of my 2SS full well knowing that it may have issues. :( But they will get fixed by GM and I will remain a satisfied GM customer for a long ,long, time to come !

If we want GM to remain as a supplier of "our" type of car, whatever it is, we need to stay together in faith that GM will make mistakes but they will do their best to rectify the issue. IMO

UPDATE!!!!!

I've been away from the computer most of the day. During that time, I've been informed that the nose on this particular Camaro was a super early production piece, slapped on to get it out the door sooner. GM already knows about the issue, and supposedly it has been taken care of on other cars. Something about a support not being bolted correctly, it wasn't clear what the solution was without seeing the car in front of me.

Anyways, it appears they have a solution. I'm going to re-edit the first post to include this update.

Now, please get back to being buddies instead of haters

Wow.. guess precision may be the kicker on this car more than we thought. Good thing I emailed my local dealer about it just to see what he had heard and if they had any more information. If I get a reply, I'll let you all know..

but out of the number of mustang owners in the US, how many are on a website? same goes for the camaro. GM wants to sell 80-100k camaros... there's some 6k members on this site. even if every single one of us got a camaro and never had a problem, we are a small section of the overall buyers.

I have an LT1 camaro with 185k on the clock with the stock optispark. nearly every other LT1 ive seen, read, heard of has had opti problems. but mine is just fine. doesnt mean the opti is a good idea.

but I fully agree with you that people shouldnt fear 1st year models. look at the sales of the 67 camaro. people werent scared then... why should we be now?

No prob, but if you want to see all the front end pics, look for the Drag Test Thread I started. It has tons of pics of this car.
