Just curious but couldn't you take your mods off, put back to stock, then put the mods on the new car? I don't know what you guys got into them so bare with me.

Yeah... waaaaaay too much. 1/2 my stuff is custom installed-would have to pay to have it swamped over, custom painted parts... and its all the little details that really add up...

Same here, I took as much off my coupe when I got the vert and I still lost quite a bit of $. I'm not going through that again.

Do you guys regret doing the mods so soon now or would you do it the same all over again? Reason I ask is cause my buddy owns a shop in Cincy and I was going to road trip down to have some HP installed but never got to cause the car was always in the shop getting fixed. With my new one the only thing I am going to do right away is rims, then 3 months in get my stripes painted on IF and ONLY if I have no problems with the new one.

Not really sure...

Ive enjoyed every minute of the mods, even if I get shafted in the end... was nice not only being one of the first verts, but a modded vert as well. Now that they're popping up all over, just a little of that magics gone...

On the other hand, I don't even have the money to swap everything over now if I had to...

I get where you guys are coming from. Make it your own. Have either of you tried to get reimbursed from Gm for a percentage if you went the buy back route?

His tone was not rude, but definitely not the friendly service id been accustomed to. Its unfortunate because, all they did was sell the car, and finally, fix the other dealerships mistakes.... I have to assume my BBB complaint is negatively impacting their dealership....

My requested resolution was a permanent fix, and an extended top warranty... a buy-back would net me a huge loss in mods... plus an ugly steering wheel... (sorry)

Hope I didn't wake a sleeping giant.
So what's your opinion in my situation.

Only the 2 small pinch marks (that brush out each wash), a top that is as tight as a....,(never mind) no leaks, quiet cabin and thousands of mods as well. Bought from Classic in Dallas (600 miles away) and a very small uninformed local dealership. I'm coming up on my 1st year and haven't been in the shop, but I only have 7K on the vehicle as it is fairly recreational in nature.

How do I walk in and start asking for a fix or extra warranties when I really don't have a problem YET, and I repeat YET. Do I still go in and ask that a case be opened on MY vehicle for the historical problems that are beginning and do you think a "special warranty" for the top could or will be offered.

Bottom line who and where do I start? Purchasing dealership? GM "complaint line? Thanks for input.

Well... you're kinda where I was 10 months ago... I decided to go to the dealer; they were more than happy to put a brand new top on, (which; although my marks weren't too bad at the time, I was happy because I hadn't learned the trick of covering the top b4 installing the tanneau- had the "bow rub line)... anyway; that started a whirlwind of problems for me, eventually leading to where I'm at now...

My best suggestion would be to go to a dealer (with some knowledge, even if you have to drive a bit to one...) have them document the marks before it becomes a sign of "normal wear"... and open a case with GM Cust Service. Just make sure they keep it open; they had a tendency to regularly close mine...

Sucks, don't it?

They started asking me about my mods when GM called after I filed the complaint... honestly; it kinda scares me. Afterburners named 4-5 different things she said to just start getting my receipts together, as they may reimburse some of the mods... as nice as that sounds, I'm fairly sure if itbwasnt a licensed GM Performance Part... they ain't gonna cover it. At this point, I just want MY car fixed, not a new one.

Eric at Classic Chevy was my salesman and very well respected in the Camaro community. He's aware of my rub marks and seen them back in June and the Oshawa meet (Still very minor, but classic of the pinch). Hopefully I can just email some pics for documentation and then wait until there is a true fix. I just want a extented warranty for the top, even if I never have to get I fixed. Hell, I'd even buy the warranty, but the GM extended warranty doesn't cover convertible tops! WTF Will give a call to Classic come Monday.

Just some info from a vert owner with the same problem, with no fix yet. I saw a vert park outside the airport today with the same hole in the same place and rub marks in the same place, looked like my top exactly. Went to the rental garage, there's dozens of them there with the same exact problem. Photographer's dream. Getting all the VIN's too. They're trying to tell me it's a cigarette burn or a normal wear thing. NO WAY. Just above the passenger side glass, center of the door. Same place on all the other cars I got to see over there. Incredible. I'm waiting for a real fix, don't want them screwing with it until it's done right. Here's the pic's on our car....

I would contend that you ALREADY have a problem. Brand new car with marks on the top that come from regular use of the vehicle? That is not something that should be expected.

My point being that GM would hope that all their customers would look at the rub marks as not a problem; so they could explain them away as normal and not have the warranty expense.

We will see how he handles the wrinkled top between the 1st and 2nd bow.

He has my information and pictures of the problem in his inbox.

If you are talking about wrinkles like this:
I Just took mine in to the dealer (new 2012) and GM advised them to NOT do anything. :(

I bumped up the contrast so it's easier to see in a picture.
