I have heard some stories about broken cts-v's locally though. Hopefully the Camaro has some key upgrades.
Nothing Ford has out as of this moment even comes close the ZL1, and I'm sure it will hit high 11s in the 1/4 without a tire change, they just need to test it in more favorable conditions, instead of some God forsaken dust bowl of a track.

I'm glad you said this and not me.

Zl1 is a sweet ride....but reading some of these threads, I'm starting to think the ZL1 can cure cancer.

IMVHO -- the Ford fans "screaming for a '12 to '12 comparison"...really ought not to be screaming. Given Randy Pobst's great respect for the Boss, I feel he was able to give it props where he could, despite its loss. I don't think the '12 GT500 would have done very well at all in a similar comparison.

You're right. The key, though, is consistent vs fast. 10/10 times LC will get you an impressive time...while doing it yourself might get you there a little quicker even a pro-driver can botch up a manual launch from time to time - weekend warriors like us will mess up more often.

That said -- I'll be practicing both ways up until the Fest...hopefully I can get the hang of racing from a dig without computer help by then.

If you breathe the exhaust in time with the firing order...it might!

I think gt500's are in the 11's with just slicks.

Weak 60ft btw, that's a 11.2 easy with a better 60ft.

I can't wait to see some ZL1s with slicks. Should be very fun to watch!

but that is just my opinion of course.

I buy a 2012 car, it's april/may of 2012, my car will only be the current year for 6-7 more months.

doesn't it feel better knowing you just bought a car that will be the current year for a whole year?
A car is current until the new model year comes out, not when January 1st hits.

For sure. That's what I was getting at. Doing well in mag tests on road courses is great, but nailing some good times at the strip with minimal mods is what will help build street cred for the car. The gt500's have been around and cranking out some great times. Hopefully the zl1 is as simple to make fast given the similar formula, and IMO, superior longevity built in. GM really looked to be doing some serious testing to avoid breakage.

Another good comparison would be the 2012 HPE650 Boss 302 ...

0-60 = 3.9
1/4 mile = 11.9

I'm thinking 11.3's can be done with a good driver

ehh not a big fan of henessey stuff, even though they do good work they will rape your wallet.
You can do some much more with your money than handing it over to them lol

But by writing a Boss vs ZL1, then a GT500 vs ZL1...that will catch some peoples' eye, because it's "new".
This .. no doubt is the biggest reason ..

Impressive runs for sure but once modifications of any type are entered into the mix there is no grounds for comparison to a stock vehicle. Many owners who have mods claim to only have this done or that done, as you and I know it is usually BS. Once Mods come into play it is usually the one with the most money winning or the one willing to sacrifice the vehicles creature comforts and streetability the most.

I understand, everyone sees things differently.

That said, as a GT500 owner, I'll say it - the Boss has its place. But for a '12 ZL1 counterpart, it isn't the one to compare to. The Boss is a driver, for sure. But the real meat lies in the '12 GT500/'12 ZL1 comparison to hold everyone over until the '13 Shleppy has been set free.

I have a sense the '12 GT500 would come up short as do you. The two need to go head to head nonetheless. And will.
