I understand that, my point is (and ill use your analogy) even if you look both ways there is still a change a piano could fall from the sky and kill you. Some of these guys act like with TC on they'll never get in an accident.

Driving aggressively or beyond your limits isn't safe regardless of what aids you do or do not have. Just seems that if your driving that hard on normal streets you could get into an accident with them on pretty easy to. Maybe I'm wrong, I just feel these people are driving passed there limit, because the machines work, and very well at that

More like gas prices, which caused the cars in the 80's and late 70's. Insurance wasn't anything like it is today.

well...........sonny......(said the 'old fart').........a whole bunch of cars and trucks were wrecked beyond recognition and lots of people were killed prior to traction control.....or worse, they were maimed and in some cases, (Like a relative thru marriage - became a vegetable for 19 years before she died......)AND....it became almost impossible for young men to insure muscle cars by 1970-71......(cost prohibitive) So! Shall we continue to wreck camaros a six-pack at a time to the point where the same thing happens again? ![]() The question isn't whether you can obliterate the tires - the question is "will it save you or innocent bystanders when you turn the Stabilitrak off and the unexpected happens?" And...I'd be delighted to take you thru a simulation that will pretty much make it feel like there's an invisible force field at work. Because, you see - in some ways, there IS an invisible force field at work!

See a "youngster" on the sidewalk with his Camaro SS damaged, and automatically assume he was being a dumbass. Sounds reasonable.

![]() Do you think insurance companies charge men under 25 more than everyone else? I do EMS/firefighting and on accidents we have to report our guess as to the cause. Most of the time we write AMIS. AMIS stands for Adolescent Male Immortality Syndrome. Before anyone knocks me for driving with TC, tell me that AMIS doesn't exist and you never did something stupid when you were young. |

There is, its called the 2012 Chevy Cruze!!! LOL I have one in the garage and it works great for just the situation you discribe!!! Plus 37 mpg is not to bad either!!! I guarantee I will not break the front end loose on the Cruze, not even on icy roads, and it will still do 85 mph into a 60 mph headwind(did it just today!!!) ![]() Sad about the camaro wreck though, hope everyone is alright and nothing hurt but ego.

I never nail it going onto an on ramp, or when some ninny is on the freeway going 50mph. Just too damn irresponsible. The only reason why I bought my SS camaro was because they didn't have the Prius in the color that I liked, and the BUG no longer has a flower holder.
I couldn't even imagine doing all those terrible things in my youth either. I have no idea why my tires on my 67 were always so bald... |
