Well good luck, I will keep everyone up to date on it. My mech wanted to rebuild the carrier but the parts guy ordered the whole new carrier so we are hoping that this one DOESN'T do like the original that was in the car, we'll see.

SOLVED MY GRINDING NOISE

i just got back from the dealership to have my car checked about the grinding/squeeking noise i started hearing last month. i would hear a noise when i make a full turn to the right. i hear it on the front passenger wheel.

their finding is that it was caused by BILLET STRUT COVERS !!!! the rubber top of the struts was grinding with the covers. maybe it is caused by the weather and the rubber expanded . at first it was taught to be the OEM strut brace i added. they drove with and without it and noise was there. then later on drove the car with and without the billet strut covers. when they drove it WITHOUT the covers the noise disappeared. and when they put it on, it came back. so they just took it out and advised me to leave it out for now (if i drive it during winter). and maybe try it back on during warmer weather and see if the problem reoccurs.

it was not covered by warranty since it was caused by an accessory. but then they only charged me half hour price.

Well picked her up tonight from the shop and maybe it is my imagination but the back of the car seems a little more smoother than it was before, and it IS more quieter than it was going around corners as well. I guess only time will tell if it is fixed for sure. I should know in about 20 days or so if the noise comes back. Also I was tickled a little when I picked her up as my mech asked me if I had a tuner on it and I said no, I can't afford to blow my drivetrain warrenty just yet, why do you ask ? He said because the car seems more powerful and is quicker than all the other SS's he works on. I said nope, just a CAI and exhaust work and the fuse pull. So thanks to K&N and Magnaflow and Pypes for that bit of extra performane. Will keep ya guys and gals updated as to how the rear holds up.

Not for this groaning noise. I assumed it was normal because it happens at the first day when I got it.

Well guys and gals, it's been about 54 days since the rebuild and SO far, no more noises or hanging up issues, the rear is driving like it should and the tires spin equally now and not grab and let go like before. I surely hope this good fortune continus. Good luck all..

My noise is back again. I just dropped it off at the dealership this morning. My dealer claims I'm the only one that has brought this problem to them, but I see some of you guys are still having the same problem as well. I hope they can fix this time.

Did you have them do the update on the ABS system ? That fixed mine six months a go, and has never come back.

So the diff has to be rebuilt to fix the little annoying grinding noise when reversing and turning? That's annoying...is it an actual issue, or just a terrible noise? Cuz I can live with the noise I think...

Not on all of them ... There are two different problems being reported that sound the same. One being the rear end, and the other and more common is the ABS reprogram.

I'd say that's the sound that mine makes when it needs to have the rear differential fluid changed and some mystery 'additive' put in. I sure with there was more of an explanation for the problem than just "needs more additive" though.

Mine too

Got mine out of the (Garage) winter storage. As I back out of the driveway I Have to crank the wheel 90 degrees to the right. I almost always have heard a low grade grinding in the rear end.Just assumed it was the positraction plates binding . Have 6500 miles on her and might have to take it to the dealer to see of they will change out the fluid in the rear end .Other posts on this topic shows that the lube change only last a little while & the noise is back ?Wish I also knew A permanent cure for this.
