All I can say, kid, is its great to be interested in these cars...just don't rush into anything...you're still very young and to get tied down to a hefty car payment at your age is something you might regret sooner than later...you've still got your high school years and college coming up, lord knows how kids pay for that these days, you don't want to miss out on these years having to flip burgers all week long...

Point I'm trying to make, I think, don't start off in life buried in a ton of debt...If it turns out to be too much for you, the way this world is now, young kids sometimes never get out from under...Your choice, your decision...I'd count your blessings now, you already have a cool car...don't over extend yourself being wild-eyed about something you can always get later....

Either you worked for it, or you didn't. Which was it? (Moreso for reference to give the OP ideas...I really don't care which. My folks paid for my first car)
My bad, i replied in the quote of the guy I was quoting.

Here is how I paid for it.

Quote:
I had a full time job at my local grocery store. I was 16 & had no other bills beside my car, insurance, gas, cell phone. Car payment was $350, insurance was $120 I believe. My job was just barely enough to cover all my monthly expenses. I've been a hustler since I was born and have always multiple sources of income. Back in high school I would forge report cards for $40 a pop and Dr/parents notes for $10 a pop. Some months I would make more money at school than I would at work.

first off, you may be just a little young to take on the responsibility of paying that much money right now. but if you think you can handle it, by all means don't let me stop you
if you don't have a job already, get one when you turn 16 and save you're money til you are 18 if you can wait. I worked at Wendy's for 9 months and saved up 11 thousand dollars... at wendys. lol. Because i wanted THAT CAMARO! But be wise about it. Enjoy being payed, take enough money out and put enough money in to satisfy you, don't blow you're paychecks. you just have to be really responsible with your money at such a young age. most kids just blow it. good luck

What would that be 900 dollars a month? Haha the other guy that was 16 in "just" an LS was paying 500 a month.

Insurance will not be 900 dollars a month, I'm 18 I pay $220 for full coverage with a $500 deductible... On an SS!! Don't let anyone tell you insurance will be too high, get on the internet or call insurance companys and get quotes see what kind of discounts you can get. The good student discount is the best one you can get! Then take a defensive driving course. Insurance can be affordable for a 16 year old you just have to shop around.

The way I saved some cash for my 4th gen. Had a job, every single paycheck I had wet straight to the bank only accessible by my mom. That and not going out to eat, have your friends chill at someone's house and not at the movies, helps save some good money. Now I'm trying to save for headers...

Well, you should tell the 16 yr old in that thread from yesterday that's paying 500 dollars a month for an LS where to get insurance then, I'm pretty sure a lot of places would just refuse outright to insure a 16yr old in an SS. From the insurance companies point of view it might not matter what he pays in the first month if he costs you 2 million in the first month.

You offer good advice though: take the defensive driving course #1 and shop around
