The new GT500 will solidly be in the 11's on street tires, knocking on 10's with big and littles if not there. Pulley and a tune ($700 worth of power upgrades) and I believe 10.7's or better will be very achievable.

Still waiting to see a ZL1 at the track. Closest thing I have seen is CTS-V coupes running 13's.

...why does that cts-v have his windows down??

But it sounds like all you guys that live your life a quarter mile at a time are dissapointed though. If that's what your after theyrs prolly better cars out there though. But just keep in mind the drivetrain is very solid. An SS won't last long with the same abuse though.
Personally Im more interested in racing this car on a roadcourse, that I'm positive it will do very very well. The ring and vir times speak for themselves.
Hope you only plan on doing open track days, because there isn't a sactioned racing body that will allow you to compete with the ZL1 as is. Gotta love that magnetic suspension.

Because that is my expectation when I finally see one run at our track.

I looove open track days. I got something else lined up for sanctioned events.
I will say this though, if brand loyalty wasn't an issue and I wanted a drag car. It would 13gt500 hands down. And yes, I love mrc!

Congrats to the LPE team, that is a quick build and great track times. JL would be proud.

Who knows how it will actually do. I also question how great of a run they could have this early in the year. These runs where in Muncie? I assume they are talking Indiana and the weather up here is still not the greatest yet. Wait until we start getting some warmer days so the track warms up during the day and then the cool evening air comes in. From whaat I saw in the video they are hooking up too early so the R's are dropping. They need a little more slippage to keep the R's up or they need a lower gear in the rear. People need to remember that this car has a top end of 180mph. My opinion is that if this car was only for the strip the rear end gears need to be changed but then it isn't only for the strip is it?
It's still going to be warmer...and as far as I'm concerned, a 1.6x 60' isn't hurting from lack of traction.

Your best times are going to come in the cool weather we have now on a well prepped track.

Well... the power numbers are great but it seems as if the red car is running more efficient that the yellow car.

Obviously its still a very new build but again, with 70whp+ it would seem that she should of gonna faster that. I'm assuming this has crossed lpe's mind. Hopefully the next video is of this car killing it.

We are back at Muncie Dragway again today, this time with our yellow ZL1.

We made it into the 10's.

10.794 seconds and 134.36 mph
10.953 seconds at 134.95 mph

I will post more info as the day goes on.

I will post a complete vehicle modifications list later as well. Basically the same as the red car plus some additional modifications (OD damper, CNC ported heads, LPE GT9 camshaft, low restriction race filter).

Now what should be our next target - 9's?

BTW - ignore the date and time, the track PC date and time are wrong (off by a day).

Details on the ZL1:

The yellow car has the components that would be found in our 700 hp package except we are spinning the supercharger faster (2.38" upper pulley and 5% overdrive damper instead of 2.55" upper pulley and 10% overdrive damper). Also we are running VP109 unleaded race gas and have the calibration modified for that fuel.

Power at the rear wheels is 722 hp and 651 lbs-ft.
